New grill installed :)

I have an 06 2500 laramie. It's white and came with a chrome grill, chrome front bumper insert and chrome rear bumper. In my quest to go all white and ditch the chrome I swapped grills with a friend of mine and had his plain jane gray plastic grill painted white. I also installed a grillcraft mx black grill insert. Looks awesome. We are also going to swap rear bumpers and I will have that painted white as well. Now I want to get rid of the front bumper insert but there is a new obstacle. The laramie bumpers are different from the sport bumpers. They have holes in them for the mounting tabs of the chrome insert. It would be a lot of custom body work to rework the bumper. Anybody ever decided to ditch the chrome insert? What did you do to remedy the holes in the bumper? The body shop told me that they could paint the insert but don't recommend it because the chrome is like a foil covering and that it would eventually peel and take the paint with it. I have one idea which is to have a sign shop cover it with a white vinyl sticker strip but it would probably be hard to match up the exact color. Any suggestions?

Sand or blast off the chrome "foil" to get down to bare metal. Doesn't take much. The get it powder coated.

I thought about that. But I didn't know the insert was made of metal. I'll take this on and post results when finished. Thanks.
