New DASH noise?

Just made my first tranny fluid/filter change to the truck, 15K. Then driving on the highway I noticed a new noise, that I can hear slightly. It sounds like the old days when your speedo cable was starting to go and you can hear the nylon gears whining a little. It changes in pitch with the motor but also sounds less when going to the left, slightly more going to the right.

If I hit bumps, it goes away and comes back a little. At first, I thought it was like the tranny pump sucking air a little and the oil is sloshing around in the pan on corners, hence the coming and going sound. I topped off the trans fluid, engine oil, power steering but still it is there. Starts up after motor is fully warmed and don't really hear it when cold.

So on the way to work today, listened REALLY close. It is coming from the top of the dash or there abouts. Almost like maybe a plug fell out and I can hear the motor that much more and the noise was always there but never heard it before. If I cruise down the road in 'N' and rev motor, I can hear it go up and down with the rev's. If I let it idle, I hear the motor instead of noise but still coming from under dash or just below the windshield.

I do not see anything going wrong with the gauges so I don't think anything is getting hurt. Just now bugs me as I can hear it grrrrring, whining noise all the time. Is there anything way up under dash that has gears in it that might need grease or something? Anything in the back of the motor? I looked around but didn't see anything and only dropped the trans pan and put it back on.

Filter only goes on one way but could it be something from there and noise traveling up the dipstick?

Thanks.

I was able to capture this sound on my camera. I just don't know how to upload sound files (.asx due to Windows Media) to the board. I tried in the My Galleries but it didn't like that extension.

Almost sounds like a bearing a friend mentioned to me but I just can't believe that. I don't see any damage (visible) happening to the truck with the gauges and stuff. Even the wife noticed this new noise without me pointing it out to her.

That's what I hate about new vehicles. You start hearing all the new noises compared to just buying something with those noises already there.

Well, Took truck (Bernie) to the dealer today for a couple of quick things. Enabled High Idle feature and change Pinion Factor to 601 due to 315 tires. Cost was $35 so that wasn't too bad. I asked them about this noise and the mechanic couldn't really hear anything. But then again he never heard what it sounded like before, nice and quite. I've searched high and low for noise of anything turning, stuff vibrating, things like that. Nothing. So I picked up some more Tranny fluid and will plan on draining fluid into a clean pail and checking the auto to see if anything got mis-placed inside the pan. It all started after changing the tranny the first time. Maybe it is just getting broken in but the noise comes and goes with bumps, around corners almost like fluid sloshing around covering up the pickup tube of something. Yet level is dead on perfect.

What would a lifter that is low on oil sound like? How about valve adjustments? I climbed all over and that is the only thing I can think of that this sound, sounds like.

Found my noise

I solved my noise problem. It was the insulation that goes up on the tranny tunnel from the firewall. Right behind the motor. It was hanging about 2" instead of being up against the truck. I didn't think it was that at first since it has always hung from the day that I bought it. I tried taping and using some adhesive but it never did stay against the truck. But after checking everything. I tried using some Liquid Nail stuff and that seemed to keep it in place against the truck. That solved the noise but I see it is was again starting to fall. So I will look around for something stronger.
