NEW 2006 dodge 2500 CTD whats it worth??

I found a dealer that has a brand 2006 new dodge 2500 CTD(5.9) automatic 4x4 regular cab with sport package and pretty much loaded, sticker price is $42868. It only has 300 miles never been titled, I guess nobody wants a reg. cab. Well seeing how it is almost 3 years old and the truck market is down I was thinking atleast $20,000 off sticker. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks a lot

That is wild!

Brand new '06 eh.....

If the truck suits you and it can be had right, I'd go for it.

I bought my '06 new in Feb '07 and could hardly find any around here then.

Thanks everyone for your response. I just went there and they said the best they can do is $26000 OTD, I said I will give you $23000 cash, they said no we can't do that because it's almost a $43000 truck, I said it's almost 3 years old. Well long story short I didn't get the truck, I can't believe they let me walk after I said I was paying cash, I believe that truck will be there a lot longer.

Cash doesn't impress car dealers, matter of fact they'd probably net less on the deal because of it. They get all kinds of kick backs and bonuses from the financing of vehicles, been going on that way for many years.

$26K is too much, I don't know what the right number is though. I can tell you for a fact it is NOT a $43K truck. I paid $36,800 for my 06 dually. (in 2006). Sticker was around $42K, no one in their right mind would have paid $40K for the truck, hence the reason it is still sitting on the lot.

dealers can hardly move regular cab pickups anymore. Thats why they still have it. Who in their right mind would pay 26000. AHHHAHA You could probably buy an 08' regular cab for that. The guys are right....dealers dont like cash deals! They miss making money on the financing. Trade ins are really where they make a killing.

I bet they would offer you 15000 for that truck as a trade in with 300 miles on it and sell it for 24000

that is so true. they wouldn't pay for that same truck as a trade in but if they are selling it then they want $26k. that's rediculous! car dealerships **** me off.

Tell 'em you want to finance it and see what their offer is...

And if it's a good deal, pay it off when the first payment comes to you.

I think if you got it for 23K...you have gotten a good deal.

The salesman told me if I had a trade then he could work with me, but I don't. I at first told him I was going to finance and he told me he can do $26000 OTD, its advertised for $27900, I then said how much if I pay cash TODAY; he said $26000 I said ok I will give you $23,000, and it was a no, I don't know how they plan on selling any trucks with their pricing.

Maybe I'm paranoid but I'm not sure I'd want a truck that has just sat for that period of time. At very least I would demand a FULL sevice on the truck.New oil, diff fluids, trans and transfer case, the works.Oil and fluids break down over a period of time even if they're not used. Also seals begin to dry out from lack of use.

Take your business elsewhere then...

It's a buyer's market right now...you should be able to find what you want and basically be able to name your price.

If you got the cash to pay for a ride, I would buy from a private seller.

yeah but finding a 06 with 300 miles on it from a private seller would be impossible.

No doubt...

I'm just saying if it's not a deal you like, then don't buy it.

There will be a deal to be found in this market.

I too, would be sorta afraid of a 3 year old truck with only 300 miles on it...for fear of dry rot and carbon build up.

These trucks need to be opened up!
