I tried doing several searches but came up with limited results specific to 18" wheels.

I have worn out my stock tires and want to go just a tad bit larger to fill up the wheel wells a little. I want to stay with an E range tire and I am a fan of BFG's.

I decided to change over to an 18x9 rim and get the 285/65R 18E tire. I am looking at either the XD series Revolver or Diesel in black. I prefer the revolver but it only comes in 4.5 backspacing.

Would the revolver work with only 4.5" BS? Or do I need the diesel with it's deeper BS? The tire is 32.7"x11.7" according to BFG.

Anything else I may have not thought of?

 

With a 9" wide wheel the closer you keep your BS to 5.5" - 6" (maybe a touch less since you are not running too big of a tire) the happier you will be. I would avoid a 4.5" BS at all cost on these trucks.
