My front brakes need replacing at 42,000 miles. I don't know if that's good, bad, or about average considering I've been running 35" Toyo MT's for some time now. I don't tow, and the most I haul is a couple of dirt bikes and gear occasionally.

Not sure whether to use OEM's or aftermarket. Severe/heavy duty or standard. Ceramic or metallic.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

My stock front pads last me about 41k miles, on stock size tires. I replaced em about a week ago with some Autozone Gold Duralast pads with a lifetime warranty. 36 bucks for the set.

They say it's hard to beat the OEM pads. I run stock tires and changed my front pads out sometime after 40k with NAPA premiums for about $69. I think the OEMs are $150-$200 but the Dealers also sell a Value Line for under $100 But I seem to remember some saying to stay with the more expensive ones? I tow 11000 lbs. one or two weekends a month and so far I've been happy with the NAPA Premium pads.

 

Hmmm, I may check out the Napa Premium pads tomorrow.

 

anyone thinking about changing the rotors out for slotted or cross drilled? any benefit running those with bigger meats? i have yet to see a big brake kit for our rigs. i know ssbc makes them for chevy and ford. i hate how we are always last on the aftermarket list.

I got the premium pads from the dealership, for all 4 wheels, not just fronts, it was $239.00. I have heard horror stories about after market pads cracking and falling apart.
