Navigation System Problems
Ive got an 07 mega cab with the in dash nav system and 6 disc changer.
Last summer, i had a few disc read errors on the audio CD's.
Now I am having a lot of trouble with the DVD in the navigation system. I keep getting disc read errors.... I can clean and reinstall the disc, but that doesnt seem to help. Sometimes it will read and I can start using the system, but then it will fail to a disc read error.
I can hear the Nav DVD disk rattling slightly when I install it, and then of course the rattleing stops when I remove the disc.
I am very disappointed.
Has anyone had similar problems?
Any easy fixes?
Is it best to replace this with OE parts? or convert to aftermarket?
I want to keep the truck stock if it makes sense, it has the service interval tracking and everything integrated. ... its only an 07 with 85k miles.
Thanks,

Its weird that you bring this up because it just happened to me the other day. Zero problems in the past and on super bowl sunday the disc error came up but it hasnt happened since. im wondering if the system wants us to get the latest nav disc. other than that i got no clue and i got only 40K on mine lol.

I've had the exact problem. I contacted dodge customer service and they had me run around to 3 different dealers and got 3 different answers. Sounds like I either have to replace it for $1500 or send it in and get it repaired for an unknown amount and it takes 30 days. Pretty crapy deal to have a head unit go out after 6 years if you ask me. Let me know if you find a fix.

Me too as well as my buddy who has a Laramie 1500 MegaCab...
Now I just use my Droid as a mapping device as it listens to me while the one in the truck I needed to stop, place the truck in Park, play with that little joystick of theirs....AHHHHH
Just waiting till I can put in an after market unit...

I recently had a similar problem!
Found out that these oem nav units will react like this if you have a weak battery...even if the truck starts and operates like normal. Apparently if this unit senses any drop in voltage, even a minor one you can get these goofy readings and reactions. In my case one battery was not holding a complete charge. Replaced it and the nav unit returned to working order.
This is what happened to my '07 factory unit, it may be worth
looking into for you guys that are having similar readings on the screen.

I replaced mine with a Kenwood/Garmin. Best move I have made. The Garmin works a lot better then the stock Nav and the Kenwood has lots options. You can down load all the music that you want to a thumb drive and have lots more play time then any 6CD's.
