Name that part!

This has been bugging me for a long time, so here goes. There is a rubber hose (about 1/2" diameter X 18" long) coming from the rear brake line tee. The other end is clipped to the shock tower above it and contains some sort of mechanism. Is this part of a proportional rear braking system, meaning the greater the load in the bed, the greater the brake fluid pressure applied to the rear brakes? If so, how the heck does it work? If not, what the heck is it? Do our trucks even have proportional rear brakes? Thanks, guys!

I've wondered what that was also... I thought it was some sort of bleeding device for air in the lines, but that really doesn't make much sense....

I need to go out and look but on a Ford that is the rear end vent hose combination brake line tee . I am not sure if Dodge uses the same set up but that is my guess until I climb under and look .

It's probably the rear differential breather tube.

Rear differential vent hose.....the bolt that holds the brake lines is hollow and the tube slips over it and they run it up high so it doesn't get water in it...The thingy on the end is some sort of breather. That is my guess without going out and lookin under my truck. A lot of cars and trucks do it that way.

Yes, it is the diff breather tube. The thing on the end keeps crap from getting in to it.
