Angry My winter time rant

We had quite the cold snap up here this past couple weeks. We had temperatures in the -30 to -40 range, and I was working some 1000+ miles from home. There are two things that happened on my Dodge that I'm going to rant about.

I got the dreaded blend door problem. I had heat on the passenger side, but next to nothing on the drivers side. This made the 1000 mile drive home oh so enjoyable. All the comfort and luxury features in our trucks are irrelevant, when there is no HEAT! A Yugo with a working heater would have been a much comfortable vehicle to drive home.

My second complaint is the block heater cord. The reason for having a block heater is to warm up the engine when it's cold outside. So it stands to reason that a block heater cold will be used in cold temperatures, right? So why the hell do they use a cord that gets rock hard and brittle at -40 causing it to short out when you need it the most?

So once again, the ram is parked, and I'm driving my 1987 6.2L diesel suburban. It keeps me warm, and it never fails to get me home.
