WOW!!! That sucks! I have the same wheels, only 20" chrome. I inspect them regularly for cracks...so far, so good. They have only been on for 2500 miles. This is pretty scary if you tow or haul. I'd also foreward the pictures to the people at Discount. If they get enough of them, there should be a recall.

Yea, I emailed them the same picture and I think that helped with the "were sending one right out today" phone call.

I will not drive the truck at all in this condition.. I can even feel a little deflection at the crack on either side were they dont exactly match up anymore

Again, I dont wan't to bash these folks ( discount tire ) cause so far they've given me great service. I just thought it was worth passing on

Remember, Discount Tire isn't the manufacturer - just the vendor.

I didn't have any qualms about driving the truck after the GN was unhooked... there were still 5 good spokes left on that corner!

I have nothing BUT good to say about Discount tire! Great service. I just thought that since they are the "exclusive" retailer of these wheels, they would want feedback if there are structural issues. I'm glad they are taking care of you. I just hope one of mine doesn't crap out while towing my 5er with the family on board!

I discovered mine Sunday morning when the family was loading up for church - figured it'd be safe to make THAT trip....

They have a 3500# rating... maybe I maxed them out!
Vision does not make all the 19.5 aluminum wheels for Rickson just the type 81 made in China....correct?

What where the models that cracked on you?

Thank you,
Bart

I had a set of Weld Scorpio 16X8s on my old 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab 4x4.

I had 2 of these crack, but not in the same area as you wheels.

Mine were actaully near the valve stem area, where there was less 'material' on the wheel.

I trip to my local aluminum welding/fab shop fixed them.

Those are some 17" Predators - maybe from a run that should've been recalled?

At one of our hooks last summer, the '05 full-pulled and cracked the centers out of 3 of those wheels.

They don't get used for Sled-duty anymore...

p.s. I don't think there's any problems with the 19.5" Vision Type 81 alloys.

Thats what I was worried about, so thank you very much. I guess I know what I want for Christmas, even if it is only one of them at a time.

Thank you,
Bart

Hey, ChuckTuna can you post a pic of your truck. I was thinking about buying these wheels for my truck and would like to see a truck with the wheels on it. My truck is mineral gray metallic, so I thought these might look good. Thanks!

The Predators are rated at 3500# for the 17" size.

(but I think only 2750# if you don't want them to crack...)
