Hi all, I live in Iceland. I have been reading on this side for probably about 2 years for now or since I bought my first ram 2005. I thank you all for excellent information here. So interesting to read about these trucks here. Now I have a 2006 model 2500 laramy 4*4 and I´m dreaming about have it modified a "little bit" like my friends ram here on this pict ;-).

This ram is 2500 4*4 with 44inc tires and lot of modifications. on rear it has airbag suspension system. I think the total cost of this "little modification" is about 30,000usd +.

Hope you enjoy these picts. And yes the guy owning it use it for winter driving up on the highland and glaciers to. Very nice truck for that. then also all kind of highland driving in summer.

There are quite a few Rams with this modification here in Iceland and they are legal on the roads here. The guy doing this mod is now putting 53inc tires on his ;-). And you thought you was the only guys liking to do mods :-).

Do you guys ever have trouble falling into crevices while driving on the glaciers?

 

It sometimes happen but usually the are not wide enough for the car to fall down compleatly. But can cause a lot of trouble. Usually the routes we take over glaciers are known routes with few cracks. But the glaciers are ever changeing so you have to take great care when driving over them. I think I could even find a pict of a truck half eaten by a crack in the glacier :-).

 

i think you might be a candidate for dyna-trac locking hubs when those huge tires eat the weak oem front end parts!!!

 

I think its already there ;-). I mean after the modification.

 

I like the way the fenders flair into the front bumper.

 

Yes its a good work. Made by some icelandic company.

 

I recently saw several pictures of Iceland and it has moved to the top of my "places to see" list. It sure is beautiful over there.

 

I love going up to the highland here in iceland. Have done it since I was about 17years old (now 46) both winter and summer.

And its great to drive 4*4 there. Lot of unbridged rivers and only dirt roads or paths.
