first post here

I have been looking around here for awhile. Finally, traded in my 03 Dmax on a 05 2500 quad cab Ram with a NV 5600 last night.
I have been looking through the forums, but just wanted to ask, is there anything that I need to watch or look for on this new truck.
Thanks for any input

Welcome aboard!
The only thing that you need to lookout for is the "BOMB" Bug! Its a nasty little critter that will infest your truck!

Coming from a chevy to the 2004.5 Dodge CTD one thing I will tell you to watch is the blind spot caused by the window design and a/b pillars. I have almost ran over a half dozen small ricers.

Everything else is just

Congrats!
I would highly recommend to start using some type of diesel fuel additive right away. A little extra lubricant and cleaner will make sure the pump and injectors live a long and happy life.
Crawl under the truck and make sure the tranny level is full, use a 17mm allen for the fill plug. Check the rear end fluid level, should be anywhere from +/-1/4" from the bottom of the fill hole.

Congratulations, coalbucket !
Maintenance on these trucks is a breeze. Give me a shout if you want to do a group buy on some Fleetguard LF16035 oil filters and some Fleetguard FS19579 fuel filters. The fuel filters are a lot less difficult to change and the truck re-starts so much easier after a fuel filter change than the GM's. Run your choice of 15W40 that meets Cummins' specs until 20k miles; after that, and if you want to, there's alot of synthetic oil choices in 5W40 that also meets Cummins' specs. I run Rotella-T 5W40 and change my oil, oil filter, and fuel filter around 7,000 mile intervals. There's alot of great gauge manufacturers out there that have gauges that look OEM....I'd get at least a boost & EGT gauge.
Welcome aboard....I hope you new RAM gives you plenty of trouble-free miles.

As always you'll get a dozen different replies to anything that you post!

Make sure to fill out your signature so we will be able to tell what we are dealing with.

Your dodge is more competition than most gassers expect!!

And welcome aboard!! Let the bombing begin!!!

don't be surprised if the rear tires "wear" a lot faster than the fronts.... torque management is a hard lesson for the right foot.

Thanks, guys. Maynard3 done and set me up with some new 35's. Over 1000 miles and real happy so far.
Since my Dmax was around 500, the CTD feels strong, but not strong enough. Needs just alittle more fuel
