Just to let you all know I am also a GM owner who is doing a buy back with gm on my 04.5 over heating POS. I am also looking hard at the dodge I was wondering if I should hold out and get the new mega cab. I have not read alot on it yet but the pic look nice. Think it can handle a loaded @ 12,000 lb toy hauler?

Give the ctd a good road test and make sure you don't have the dreaded 70mph vibration or drone. There is no fix, don't buy the truck if it vibrates even a little.

I have a 2004.5 dually 4:10 auto and have 27000 Miles , Most of the miles where pulling my 40 ft enclosed car trailer. As far as Pulling a heavy load the 4:10 are the way to go with the auto. I did have the 65-70 mph drone but got it fixed, Working close with the local chrysler dealer we ended up putting 2 rear shafts in the truck and 2 different front shafts and now the problem is gone...... I go from Minnesota to Montana alot so I see flats and Mtns, There are times where I could use the 3.73 gears but with the 4:10 the tranny very seldom needs to downshift and when I think It will I normaly use trailer tow or just take my time. I usally set the cruise at 75 mph with the trailer.....
