modifying original split-bench seat back ?

I have '04 with 40/20/40 split-bench cloth seats. The seat bottoms are fine, but the seat back are very uncomfortable without lumber and are also too short for my back. I'm looking for the easiest solution that gives me lumber and a longer seat back. The idea is to get a seat back with lumber, open it up and weld on extensions for to lengthen then stitch it back it. Does anybody know if seat backs with lumber will bolt-on to seat bottoms without lumber ? Any other suggestions for my situation ?
