In the market for 285's again

I am fixing to be in the market for a new set of tires. The BFG AT/KO's wore good on my 4x4 but are wearing horribly on the 2wd. I would like to keep the 285 size for a little help in the top end.
Also, my car policy only pays for tires if they make it 50,000 miles. So, the durability of the tire is the key issue and I don't have to worry about snow in south Louisiana! Just wondering if there are some street type tires in 285 with a D or E rating!

ThankS!

Thumbs up

If your up for a 295, Id check out the Nitto Terra Grappler. I love them and they are some of the least expensive tires out there.

But what kind of mileage are people getting out of them. I need to be as close to 50,000 miles as possible. I wonder if I could fit them on a non-lifted 2wd.

My Toyo's (made in the same plant as the Nitto) are hitting 50k right now.

I am faced with the same question right now as winter is rapidly approaching here (MT), and i have a worn out set of 285 toyo a/t's with only 18k on them . I think i will be going back to bfg a/t ko's as i had them on my last truck and got great mileage out of them. I liked the toyo's but they apparantely didn't like me, also as far as i am concerned not many tires look as nice as the bfg a/t ko's, just my .02 cents

There are no Michelins in that size,,, I have had the Nitto's on two trucks and love them,,, I went with E rated for more air pressure, better rolling and towing...

GET THE MILEAGE ADJUSTMENT!!! Those tires are guaranteed 50k!

If you didn't get even 20k then there is something VERY wrong!!!

I had 18's(nittos) on my 04 and at 20K they had little wear showing, you know drifting does tend to wear tires out a little quicker. My tire shop see's me every 2500 miles for rotation, Diesels are brutal on the rears...

Another thing I did was siping the tires for better wet/snow performance and they make the tires run cooler hence they last longer.

What load rating were the TOYO's? How heavy do you tow?

Toyo's website does not show a warranty or mileage gaurantee! 2 tire dealers here told me tire designations with LT have no mileage warranty. One was Goodyear and was a Bridgestone Firestone dealer!
The BFG's have no mileage warranty!

Anyone running Pirelli Scorpions ATR's?

I searched for a while and found that the non-Pmetric sizes in Open Country AT are only good for 40,000 miles! If you click the above link it brings you to the page that allows you to download their warranty PDF!

I didn't rotate the tires as often as i should have (recommended every 3k) as they truck is always on the move during the summer, but the tires are load rated E, and yes i tow all summer long anywhere from 5-15k. I have much better luck with the bfg's on my last ford with the almost exact same towing/driving conditions i think i will be giving them a shot again.
