the derale does have a drain plug and they do make one for the 48re must be new call them thats what i did ( CHRISTOV )THERES A COVER PLATE THAT YOU WILL SEE WHEN YOU TAKE THE PAN OFF THAT LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT HAVE A TORQUE CONVERTER DRAIN BUT IM NOT SURE .I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THESE TRANS PANS AND CHANGING THEM AND THERE WAS NEVER ANYTHING SAID ABOUT DRAINING THE TORQUE CONVERTER SO I DONT BELEIVE THERE IS A DRAIN UNDER THAT COVER PLATE .if you want all the fluid out at one time do a search, there are directions on do it yourself ways. ATF +4 fluid.THE TORQUE SPECS 35 !!! inch# !!! for filter !!! 125 !!! inch# !!! for trans bolts NOT FOOT POUNDS.

Thanks for bringing the Derale to our attention, wrm! I think Mag-Hytec, PML and the like really missed the boat by not adding large cooling fins to the underside of their pans. And with a casting it's very easy and inexpensive to do. For $200+ I expect more than a drain plug, no matter how pretty the rest of it is. At less than half the price plus built in cooling, I'm going with the Derale when the time comes.

I think I might go the Derale route as well. I would just like to know from those who have one what they feel the casting quality is?

Where are you reading your temps from? My a-pilar gauge reads about 150, but the Attitude reads about 20-30 degrees higher. I guess it's reading temps from 2 different places.

My a-pilar gauge has since been replaced with a fuel gauge.

SUBSPD I MIGHT HAVE MISLED YOU GUYS READ THIS.the pan is stamped steel not cast .it is heavier than the stock pan an wholes about 2 qts more than stock .it has a magnetic drain plug, also there is room in the bottom of the pan to put the magnet out of the stock pan if you want two.the tubes that run through the pan are not hollow they have taken a thin peice of metal the same size as the tubes and twisted it a little to slow the air flow down for additional cooling .it comes with a new filter an gasket the stock gasket is better.there is no place to put a temp guage ,if you want a in pan guage you can get one from b&m trans.the tubes are about 3/4 inch and i beleive there are 7 or 8.hope i didnt leave anything out

I was going to get the MH, but I just got a PML instead... I liked the price and prefer the non-painted surface. It seems to run a little cooler than stock, but then again the could be because of where the probe is. Overall, I'd go the same route again. As to the comment of the fins being too small on PML/MH, I would disagree... any larger and I'd be worried about breaking/bending them, and any additional cooling would be minuscule.

Thanks WRM I would like to take a look at one sometime. I am curios do you feel the quality is better then stock or the same? I think the design look really smart but worry about it getting damaged easily...

I asked my local DTT builder about the Mag pan and he said put it on if it makes you feel better, but you're not gaining anything significant.
