Angry Made in Mexico

Do we need to send some wire to Mexico? It finally warmed up enough around here to get a real good look at my new Megacab. I'm NOT impressed with the QC. You would think that for an asking price of $45,000.00 they could afford not to have to splice wires. I looked at the battery cables. From the altenator a brown wire about 8" long is spliced into a green 4" wire, Then a blue 6" wire spliced into a yellow 4" wire to the Starter relay. And with these little red tape pieces proudly saying "MADE IN MEXICO" It's no wonder they're a third world nation.

I'm going to have a talk with the service dept. I have a feeling it's going to be one of those fuel tank fixes. Where the edit say's it's fixed but needs fixed right.

Not that I know, but any chance there is a some kind of fuseable link somewhere in there?

The wiring harnesses are dropped in as a whole unit. By splicing the wires and avoiding using a terminal block, the Daimler/Chrysler engineers saved a few cents per vehicle.
Face it, our trucks are built as cheaply as possible and marked up much higher than they should be.

Serial number on my truck starts with a 3 also! no problem! look at my location also!

with the cummins they have either 2500's or 4000's

4000 are only cab and long chasis, with the narrow rear axle, and the front solid axle!

made in the USA/assembled in/manufactored in/point of manufactored in all mean the same anymore thanks to a change in rules made in '90/'91 time frame by our [Bush one repubs] Washington politicians. DETNEWS.com had a article on their web when Nissen introduced their last big truck that Nissen said was made in the USA. Well it turned out that Nissen/Toyota trucks both are less than 30 percent of the trucks parts are manufactored in the USA but are assembled here. Our Dodge trucks was the highest parts manufactored in the good ol' USA at 93.7 with some assembled in MX and Fenton, MO. Ford trucks were second at 91.3 percent and GM at 89.8 percent. Toyotas new big truck [Tundra ??] has assy plants in TN and TX and according to Toyota they are 80 percent parts made here [if you believe that]. Japans cars are even less parts manufactored in USA but are assembled here.
My grandson is a parts mgr for a Toyota dealer and the parts they keep in stock are just about all made overseas but are shipped from distributers from all over the USA.
At 93.7 percent of parts made in the USA our Dodge are still the best bet at "Made in the USA".

Its not really a product of where it's built, just where(better yet who) engineered it and who is trying to pinch pennys. Just like when ford removed emblems on the V-8 to save a couple bucks on each truck.
