Gary,

Very foxy looking wheels! Are you going with the 17x8.5 with the 6" offset?
Our stock offset is about 6.25 so those will fit very nice. Can you send a pic?

[B]ppsi,

I took out the two lowering blocks on my truck and am glad I did. The truck is almost level and looks a bit better. It's not to hard to do.

I started to take those two spacers out, but there are two bolts though them and through the spring. Didn't look so easy to me. Could you explain how you did it.
Those two spacers removed would be just the right amount for me.

I have not done the blocks yet but in doing some investigation I noticed the through bolts and figured there was more to it than deweighting the springs and sliding them out. I think it iwll be required that the leaf springs be disassembled and then the blocks can be taken out-w-an appropriate size replacement bolt(s) installed. What two "lowering blocks" are you referring to. I thought these terms were interchangable but obviously you have lowerred your by removing blocks I am not familiar with???

ppsi,

Ray Roton,

Go back and read my earlier post on page one in this thread. I explained the removal in detail. It is not hard if you have a few tools, a floor jack, a jack stand, a C clamp, vise grips, and a deep socket for the U bolts. Takes about 20 minutes per side and is not unsafe. The leaf springs do not get disassembled in the process.

OK, how about a twist on this thread. Suppose I want to raise the front of a 2wd 3500 to match the back instead. Is there a way to do that? I like the looks of the 4x4 height, but don't really need the 4x4 extra weight, mechanicals and cost.

I'm in this boat also. Id rather raise the front than lower the rear.

I finally got around to removing the spacer blocks. If Wetspirit can do this in 20 Min per side I will hang up my tools. I was out there for 4 1/2 hrs and, to me, it was not worth the effort. First off there are three on a 3500 on each side that were removed. Two at the bottom and one between the overload springs and the main pack. I got the truck in the air took off the wheels and the fender liners. Then I got the U bolts off and lowerred the axle. I took out the bolts that hold the springs together (really poor quality hardware and must be there just ofr ease of assembly)and replaced them-w-3 1/2" grade 8 as per Witspirit's instructions/ All was going swimingly untill I tried to put the U bolts back on. It was very troubling to see the threads ended about 1"+ before where I needed them to go!. I was really cause I needed the truck movable before super bowl time. It took me about 2 hrs to fabricate some 1 1/2" Stainless spacers that I used to space up the bolts. A lot of this time was spent re-assembling my lathe chuck I had taken apart to clean but man Was I frustrated. Mr. Murphy hangs around me so much I wonder how he has time for anyone else.
My recommendation? Don't bother for the amount it lowers the truck and if you do have a 3500 make sure you have replacement U bolts ready !

I would still be interested in going the other way. That is, I would like to raise the front. Even raising the front 2.5 inches should still make it a lower overall height compared to a 4x4 (which fit in my garage when I tested it). Hopefully, the extra clearance will allow larger tires down the road and I like the look as well.

Has anyone tried the Daystar 2.5" coil spring leveling blocks for a 2wd? If so, are they hard to install?

Thanks,
Neil

I don't know if you have a 4X4 but I have no desire for larger tires on my 2X4 nor do I want to be higher in the air for handling reasons and the cost of tires/rims. To each his own right? I do want to go a lot faster though!

Would there be a warranty problem with the 2 spacer removed?

I can't see how a dealer could make a warranty issue out of a minor thing like this.

I moved the two spacers from the bottom of the spring pack to the top.
That way, you don't have to replace the bolts. All the orginal parts are still there in case you ever want to change it back.
