lower ball joint problems

I just installed XRF lower ball joints and when I try to put the grease gun on the zerk fitting it will not fit because the zerk is to close to the lower axle ear. One side has the grease zerk facing backward and the other side is facing forward but toward the center and neither position works.

Has any one else had this problem? What orientation works?

No. they come with a zerk that is about 3/4 of an inch long and is come out the edge of the ball joint almost horizontal. It look like the same design the moogs have.

How do you guys with moog ball joints grease them?

Mine are pointed toward the front of the truck. I do not remember having any problem greasing them though.

i have the same problem. what i did was unscrew it most of the way out or all the way put your grease gun on and push it in the hole and kinda screw it back and hold it in as you grease and it should pump in. grease as you need and pull it out (the zerk will usually come out with it) then screw the zerk back in. its a pain and shouldn't work that way, but thats what i had to do.

The other option i am thinking about doing is grind a little notch where the zerk is.

It is good to know that I am not the only one with the issue. You think they would have designed out this problem.

Are you guys using XRF or Moog? I called XRF and they said noone has had this complain yet, but they would pass it on to the engineers. If more people are having the problem we need to call them and let them know.
