lower ball joint wont tighten

I need a little help. I had to replace my upper ball joint on right side, my problem is i am putting the knuckle back on and the nut that tightens up the lower ball joint will not tighten up. The whole stud is turning. What is the deal I am at a standstill, any help would be appreciated.

if I remeber correctly the lower does not show much thread when it's fully tightend.

Um, try a bottle jack under the ball joint just to one side of the grease fitting. put a little pressure on it then try it.

I know money can be tight but I always do those as a pair. once you replace one, the other is not far behind. a lot of labor just to get at it!
