Well mine has a stalling problem when the outside temperature gets below freezing. The dealer replaced the TIPM but that didn't do any good. They don't know what is worng with it. I have 44k miles on it which means electrical issues such as this are out of warranty. I've spent a little over $1,300 for parts, labor and rental car fees. It's going back in tomorrow so they can try a couple more ideas thrown at them by the mfr. Chrysler has been no help at all. It seems they aren't even a member of the Better Business Bureau as all the other car mfrs are. So I can't even get this arbitrated by the BBB. It's also past the Lemon Law eligibility in my state. I hear a lot of folks are having electrical ghosts/issues with the '06. I will more than likely trade mine in come spring. I'll give GMC/Chevy a try.

Sorry to be so glum, I'm going on 5 visits to the dealer and 15 days out of service and would be really happy if I had more recourse in this situation. My attorney tells me my only hope is to somehow catch the dealer in a lie and then they can go for the fraud angle.

I am the previous owner of a '04 with a Hemi and I also had a '97 Caravan that didn't have any major issues such as this '06 truck has.

I've got an 06. No problems here. Mine hasnt crested 10k miles yet, but I take it on all my long distance trips. I've heard of an issue about making sure you dont plug in a trailer unless you turn your lights off so I follow that rule, but I've never had an issue.

20.5K miles here with about 5k towing a 30ft toy hauler. I have had the smoke at start up ecm flash and a powersteering pump leak but none of these things were major problems. The seats stain easily I put Cover King seat covers on. I vote go for it if the price is right

I think you'll be just fine with an '06. NO matter what manufacturer you choose there are going to be some problematic vehicles.

DieselBD, have you checked the wires running just under the oile filter. If they rub bare it can mimic a bad CPS--stumbling, rough idle, and stalling. If I can get the thread from another site posted, you can check it out.

Try this. Hope it helps.

I have 22k on mine - had the white smoke at startup flash done, and I need to get the ps box fixed - it's leaking. But other than that, I love it!

40k on mine. had fuel tank vent recall done and modified it later to my own specs, had a front pinion seal start leaking at 38k. Dealer replaced the pinion flang and seal under extended warranty for the deductable. Had small coolent leak at hose clamps by turbo repaired by tightining clamps. Other than that I've had no problems. Do a search on wireing problems. The one under the A/C compressor and the one over the bracket going to the starter (yellow wire). Also have the TIPM re-flashed for higher amps to trailer lights.
My question: How much white smoke when cold would indicate having the TSB done?

I have two 167k and 145k. No problems. Count on Ujoint relplacement at around 80k. Had a small issue with a wire comming out of a harness and loosing the starter, and on my auto i had the linkage cable brake. 6speed manual had to replace the flywheel at 130k. Broke a belt and knocked off the crank snesor. All small simple problems just wear and tear kinda things.

I have had no real problems in 26K. Tank vent recall, ABS recall, hose over turbo replaced, recent flash to update ECM and all the nuisance startup issues gone-better drivability. I also had troubles with the NAV unit, it was replaced, but that's an accessory problem not truck problem.

I have towed about half that milleage, the truck has performed excellently.

'06, 20K, never been to the shop (knock on wood). Most common overall problem seems to be the recirculator door issue, I would make sure all functions of the ventilation system are working properly.

2006 made in March 06

23,000 miles, about half with the truck pulling camper & boat together.

Only problem is the coolent leak behind turbo ( clamps tightened by dealer ) and the B piller cover on passenger door pops off in summer but retracts and stays on in winter.

My friend just bought a new 08 Chevy diesel but I still like my 06 Dodge more.

I tow fast also - 85+ in Colorado. the Cummins kicks butt!
