LED light question
LED light question
i tried to put led's on my flatbed, it didnt work needless to say, all they would do is blink, i dont know if the voltage draw is too low for the computer to comprehend, but the same lights worked great on my 99 dodge, if there's a solution, i would love to know, thanks...
This is just a hunch but I'm guessing it has something to do with the Lamp Out Indicator which probably doesn't understand the reading it's receiving from the LEDs. If my hunch is correct and if you wire a regular light bulb in parallel with the LEDs they should work.
Dixiemfg, There is a TSB that the dealer can use to enable the use of LED tail lights for flatbed conversions. Do a search on here and it may come up. I've seen it and it eliminates the low current draw problem that you have with the Tail lights only. The lamp out should still work with all the other lights. If not start a thread in Towing and Hauliing also. ks

I have led tail lights in my truck and the only way they will work is to install a resistor into the line powering the bulb, one is needed for each bulb used. The ones i used are 6 ohm 50 watt resistors and can be found here http://www.superbrightleds.com/ they are called a load resistor kit and are 4.95 each. They also now stock a led flasher but our trucks don't use a flasher or it sure would have been a lot simpler.
