Mega Cab

Do you guys think the mega cab will be to big for a daily driver. I know it will be on a long bed frame with a short box. I want the dode truck for work and to tow or toyhauler to the beach. Just dont know if I should wait for the Mega Cab what do you all think???

If cab space is important to you, then definitely wait. If not, then wait anyway and check out an '06. If you don't like the '06, then you'll probably be able to get a great deal on an '05.

I have a QuadCab long bed and don't think that it's too big for a daily driver.

Mine is a daily driver. I don't think you are going to have a problem either way.

I think it is all in what you get used to. Naturally, I like a long bed truck...so I am biased. I think they look better, ride better, and why have a 3/4 or 1 ton truck and not have a long bed to utilize the abilities of the truck. Also, if you decide to add a toolbox........it leaves dang little space for cargo on a short bed. It is all personal decision...but that is my take on it. good luck.

I am glad that I ended up with a long bed. I bought mine slightly used so I had no choice. It is a long truck but I drive downtown and park in an underground garage and I don't have any problems. Definitely more useful...

I would get the long bed. I have had both boxes and the long bed is more functional. Praking is not that much of a problem.

To me, it depends on where you live. Here In Staten Isl. Parking is awfull, either on the street, or in parking lots. I think when they build stores and malls around here, they think everybody drives a 6 ft. long honda!! I have a short box, and when I park in a lot, and even in the handicapped spaces (I do have a permit) My truck sticks out like 3 or more feet than normal. Its kind of worry-some, cause Theres always that one driver in the lot not paying attention, Im affraid of getting clipped, So I could Imagine how much a long box would stick out. Also. In front of my house. If I had a long box, I would be right up against my driveway apron, and my neighbors. If I lived more rural, like upstate NY, I would have a 6spd Dually!!

I see this erroneous logic all the time on every truck forum. I have a shortbox and a very large crossbed box that takes up the front 2 feet or so of that box. But here's the thing, I bought a pallet of landscaping stone and easily fit it onto the truck and hauled it home. That one pallet of stone pushed my GVWR to or beyond the legal / mechanical limit of the truck. A half ton would have been way overloaded.

Weight and size are two distinct categories, you certainly can use all the weight carrying ability of a 3500 in a short bed.

Perfect if your a real estate agent! My current configuration suits me to a T. The room is really amazing in that thing, but way over my head. Especially, if you use it as a daily driver, with no need for all that room, I think the ones we have now fit the bill. But, if you want the biggest and the baddest, this is the one to have.

Huntsalot if you dont want to drive a "long bed" all day then thinking of driving a Looong cab might help cause it more cab then bed..

IMO if you dont actually need the mega cab I would get a 8ft. box instead. The extra cargo area does come in very handy when needed. I didnt buy the long box cause I like the look of the SWB truck but now im thinking I should of went for function over form. I fit 6 adults in my 05 quad cab comfortably. just my .02

See I think i should get a long bed because of my 5th wheel. And If I get the mega cab I cant get a long bed. The slider hitch in my truck now is a joke. If I start to turn and it looks like I neeed to slide it back guess what its all bound up from turning. So if I think i need to slide it back before I even start to turn I need to pull the slide now how many of you think about the when you pull into that only gas station that has diesel and its tight.

Get the Mega Cab, ditch the lousy sliding hitch you currently have, and get a Pullrite Superglide.
