The Last Time...

I've heard many of you bash dealers and I always wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I've had a few good experiences but more bad experiences. Tonight was another bad one that pretty much confirms that dealers don't care about anything but money. I'm tired about the lies and excuses.

I took my 3500 srw to the dealer yesterday for backup light problems (they stopped working) and to look at my A/C since it is freezing up again this year. Last year the A/C froze and they replaced all kinds of things and finally said it was because of low freon and a bad seal. They called me last night and said that the freon was fine and they couldn't duplicate the problem. Why are they trying to duplicate the problem! I explained in detail that a block of ice was forming and what the other symptoms were (no blowing but you can hear the fan). They drove it about 4 miles and said we can't get it to freeze up. No $hit! I told them it took sometimes 30 minutes or more for this to happen. They also told me the typical, "the computer doesn't show anything". Don't they know how to fix vehicles when the computer says nothing is wrong. After I said that other trucks (on-line) were having similiar problems they came up with the heat/humidity excuse and claimed that many other types of vehicles were coming in about the same thing.

They also said that they needed the truck another day since they couldn't figure out the backup light issue. I asked "did you check the backup switch" to which she says, "oh yes and it tests fine". She said the bulbs were good and they had to trace the wiring to see where the problem was.

She called me today and said that the switch was bad and they ordered a new one ($75). I told her to forget working on the A/C and would resolve it by using recirc. She then said that the cost was $150 for the wire tracing diagnostics. I told her that was wrong and they better take care of it. When I picked it up she reduced it to $89! What a bunch of crap! I paid it just to get out and got the main service managers number to call tomorrow. Don't these idiots realize that when they treat customers this way that eventually their business will suffer??? I never raised my voice with them but just said that "This is wrong and you need to take care of it". I'm done! Dealers suck!

I took the wifes chebby to the dealer, afew months ago.
Door switch wiring problem.and a few other minor things
They fixed most of it and charged me for non covered radio ***** (no big deal)
a couple of weeks later the heater quit blowing hot air
So it was getting summer and I waited to take it back for the heater till last week.
They made me an appt. for thurs.at 8:00 am
So I get there and show them the problem, and the fact they did not reinstall the door panel properly and it bangs and rattles when you hit a bump or close the door.
They waisted no time telling me squeeks are not covered.
So I told them to forget it I would fix it later my self.

They did not call me in the eving so I called them.
They said the had not looked at it yet(so I went off)
They said they might look at it on monday(so I went off again)

(Why make an appt. on thurs. when you cant look at till mon.)

So mon. rolls around they fixed it.
Forign debris in the heater core??????
They part dissasembled and flushed the core.
So I get there and read what they had done.
I asked
If the heater is in the cooling system and it is closed, then how did it get foregin debris??????
And if you flushed the core , why not the cooling system
So I got had
And It will proll clog again and I will have to fix it myself

Yep, they are rip-offs!

I failed to mention that when I dropped off my 3500, I wrote on the order that I had the extended warranty. When she called me about the switch that's when she mentioned that oh by the way, the switch is not covered under warranty. If it wasn't covered under warranty she should have called me before working on it! They will get my call tomorrow...

I hate to bash, because there are some really good people at dealerships, but most of the time they don't know anything about the vehicles except what the computer tells them. Sometimes if it is a minor fix, it is easier for us the conusmer and owner to fix the problem instead of wasting our time. I bought my truck for the truck and not the warranty, but if a part malfunctions because of manufactor defects of course I am going to take advantage of them fixing their mistake.

Hey Guys, wake up. I always do my own first. If it's out of my depth, which it offten is I find the nearest Cummins dealer. Many times I can find a employee of a Cummins dealer, locally on this site who will work under the table. If the problem isn't with the motor I will find the best expert in that field for the repair, ie a good air-conditioning man. Never! Never! go to you know where. It's like going to a general practioner for a heart operation, and I travel all the time.

I'm glad to hear that others hate dealers as much as I do.

I love this forum but I agree about the censorship comment. Isn't this America and the home of the free and the right to free speech, etc. etc. etc.? I find it VERY hard to believe that the owner of this forum would in any way be liable for the members running off at the mouth. Oh that's right we have people who live at the same depth as dealers known as lawyers and another equally fine group of people working at the ACLU.

Since I'm on the subject, why do we have to use 4 or more letters when doing a search and no more than 1 search per minute? Is the server really that busy?

Again, I love this forum and to the owner....if you want to censor and set time limits on searches have at it, it's your stuff. Thanks for hosting an almost perfect site.
