Lamp out?

I started getting a "lamp out" warning light and chime off and on this week and I don't have any lights that are out? Went over the entire truck. That chime is driving me nuts!
Any ideas?

Check your tail/brake lights in the back. I've read before that they'll sometimes give issues. Something causes the wires to melt partially into the plastic base and that throws off the connection enough to cause the Lamp Out warning to kick in.

Buddy of mine had this happen. We scraped down the extra plastic around the wires and that cleared it up.

Been there, done that. Annoying as all get out....but, if you wait then one of your rear light bulbs WILL go out in the next couple of weeks. Change the bulbs (you need 6 of them) in your rear fixtures and the lamp out indicator will go away.

My truck did this for 2-3 weeks and I could never figure out why because all of my bulbs worked fine. Then, my left rear brake light went out. I went ahead and changed all of the bulbs. You truck isn't messed up....it's just predicting the future. Show me a Ford or Chevy that can do that!!

Same thing here. Turned out to be the right rear two stage brake lamp. Bulb filament looked okay to the eye but it was shot. Changed bulb and passed the CPU check.

Now, getting the rear lens out was tricky. The retaining torx (!) fastners on the inside of the tailgate was the easy part. Pulling the llens straight back and out was not easy. Y'all be careful because if you pull too hard at an angle you'll break it for sure. I wiggled it around until the catch pins let it go. It took a half hour to get it off withough cracking it.

I found some bulbs that were all glass. They did not have the plastic bottoms. I haven't had the melting problem since. That was over a year ago. They are Wagner 3057's

I wish mine was. Finally let go after working it back and forth.

Probably all those rough old dusty forest service trails.

Hoss;
You called it! With no lights out 2 weeks ago and that annoying chime going off every day, I was beginning to go nuts. Then all of a sudden the other day, the one brake light goes out.
I was ready for it and had the bulbs in the glove box. Changed them out and NO CHIME!
Thanks
