just got my new truck yesterday!!

Hey this is my first post on the site but I have been reading up a bit for a few months and decided that the CTD Ram was the way I wanted to go. All I have to say is WOW I picked up the truck yesterday and I am so impressed. I got a Silver 2005 Ram 2500 4x4 QC CTD 6spd short bed with the 3.73 rear end. It had 10 miles on it when i got it. I love this thing and was wondering if there's any weird things i need to be on the lookout for or if I need to do anything special to break the truck in, I want this thing to last for a very long time, and what would you guys recommend as the first thing to get for the truck, I eventually want to lift it and run 35s maybe 36s and want to get a nice fueling box or chip and a few other things. So let me know what ya'll think, I'm glad to finally have a real truck!

Which 6 speed do you have? The NV5600, if the truck was built prior to 1/1/05, or the G56 if it was built after.

Cold sweats in the middle of the night mean that you must take a drive!

Congrats on your new truck!

Yeah I'm loving the truck, how can i find out the manufacture date of my truck? I looked through my paperwork and coulnd't find it on there anywhere. All I know is the tranny I have shifts very smooth and is a lot more fun to drive than you might think. Is there anyway to differentiate the two trannies by looking at them, or is there anything in the VIN # that might tell me. Thanks

I figured it out, I've got the NV5600, appareantly the G56 has reverse beside 2nd instead of beside 5th like the NV5600, in case anyone else was wondering.

Isnt the build date printed on a sticker located on the drivers-side door?

edit: just checked, the build date on mine is on the quadcab door, visible when you open the drivers-side door. May not apply for the newer Rams.
