Injector Poll Results

OK, not too long ago a poll was run with the following results:

80% of owners had NO injector issues at all - Of the 20% that did, 70% of them ran PRESSURE BOXES.

SO, maybe we should run a more DETAILED poll to find out from that 20% of owners who had problems:

Did they fix the tank vent issue?
Do they run cleaner/lubricator additives to their fuel?
What micron filter do they use?

2003. I ran Howes then PS, MMO, Valvoline injector cleaner. I had the injectors cleaned, then with in a week #3 failed. The cleaning never effected milage or ticking sound.
After about 10,000km I started to expierance the ticking and high fuel consumption. Then an out right knocking in one cylinder.
I run the factory 10micron filter only.
I had the fuel bowl mounted LP fail and replaced, now have the intank pump.
Injectors are starting to sound bad worse then before but only intermittantly.

Vent tank issue has not been addressed as of yet.

As this was done before you will notice that there's a higher failure rate in Canada vs. the lower 48 per truck population. Two conclusions came from this, one is high usage of #1 diesel and the precentage of fuel made from shale oil. I believe this was before the 600's came out.
Something to chew on......

The other day I was at the fuel station and asked about their use of #1 fuel. The owner mentioned that he uses #2 all year long unless the temps go down to -60cels. So all last winter he was using #2. It seems that very few places use #1 any more do to quality control and the fact that #2 is rated down to -50 any ways.
What I did notice is that the fuel smelled different for the past few months ans thought it was #1 but instead it was USLD. So the use of #1 is null and void in this topic now.
This leads me to believe that it is either an electronic problem causing the injectors to not open properly, a quality control problem from DC or a lack of the proper filter specifications.

The fuel qaulity issues have been hashed out time and time again. The only conclusion that can be drawn is that the factory filter was not spec'd properly. Now is it the proper size media is what the real question should be. If the reports from Bosch does not turn some heads about the requirement for a 2 micron absolute system then what will.

A few other points to this survey is what type of climate do you live in, Dusty, dry, wet, city country etc.

Further to this how many of those people use the stock lift pump and how many run another Lift Pump. What psi's are you running through the factory filter?
