Imagine my surprise...high idle

I was under the impression that my '05 6 spd didn't have a high idle feature.

Well...I think it does.

I left work this evening (coldest day in Chicago this year at 28 degrees). I started the truck and it went to 800 rpm (normal). As soon as the grid went off, the idle ramped up to 1,000 rpm. I let it warm up another 5 minutes and as soon as I put in the clutch the idle went back to 800. I stopped at Wendy's on the way home to get a burger and left it (the truck) running in the lot. When I got back with my cheesburger and fries, it was idling away at 1,000 again.

Who knew - not me.

all 3rd gens have a computer controlled high idle . But with an automatic you can do it manually off the cruise buttons.

Airgrabber- You can't set it with the cruise buttons on an 03 auto. (I tried to have it set up, but they couldn't do it.)

the 1000 rpm high idle is in the ecm. The one everyone wants and us 6 speeders can not get is set off the cruise and it will idle @ 1400-1500 rpm.

Doorguy- you're not the only one who would love to have that feature! (Last year I could have used it for 5 months of winter.)

Why didn't you just go through the drive-thru at Wendy's.

hey now some of us can't exactly fit thru a drive thru.. Have you ever seen a quad cab dually pulling a 45' gooseneck go thru the drive thru window.... It doesn't fit!!! and that is probably the only reason I haven't gained weight driving all day since I have to find a HUGE parking lot to park to enjoy a little of wendy's finest!!!!! ha ha, pun intended!!
