I wasn't kidding. The only place I have ever lived where both of my next door neghibors weren't from Kalifornia was in Redlands Kalifornia. In Las Vegas, both of my next door neighibors are from Kalifornia. Same story when I lived in Westminster Colorado and Salt Lake City. They seem to everywhere but Kalifornia. It was so blatant in Utah that the locals refered to a nearby mountain town as Park City, Kalifornia.

[rantmode] You know, there's a lot of good people from CA that move to other states, so I wouldn't neccessarily call it a raid, or lump them all into the same "kalifornians" boat. Some of us live here only because of circumstance. I've always been a small town boy stuck in the city, and just hope for the day I can move somewhere that people think on their own and don't expect the goverment to give them everything. I think maybe that's one reason CA is getting so bad is that the "normal" people are all leaving to live in a more enjoyable environment, and all the eco-****, politically correct, my-bmw-is-bigger-than-yours types are all that's left... them and the minorites that find it their responsiblity to work the system and get all they can from the state that would rather hand out freebies than make someone work for a living. Sure, there's still genuinely good, free thinking individuals from all walks of life here, they're just quickly being outnumbered by the lunatics... if only we could nuke SF and LA, then CA would be a pretty cool place! [/rantmode]

ok whoa way off topic i'm done now

I really like my house 2 acres in the pines E of the AF Academy, make me an offer??

I have lived here 4 times since the early 80s for a total of 15 years. It is just the growth for growth with little imporvement in infastructuce that gets me. Traffic is terrible.

Weather is great here

My wife retires in June and her employer gives us a free move for a year??

Change is good ???

guzzirider,

Idaho Falls is still pretty sheltered from the mass Kalifornication that other areas, like Boise & Eagle, are experiencing. That is, skyrocketing living/housing costs, terrible traffic, and growing liberalism.

The Idaho Falls area is a beautiful. It offers endless year round recreational opportunities. I would consider moving over there, but the winters can be a little too harsh for me (I'd rather be in Florida during the winter months!). Plus, it's not the easist place to find a good job. Idaho Falls is sandwiched between Sun Valley, CA and Jackson Hole, CA, so you can drive 100 miles east or west if you do yearn for California type vacation .

I wouldn't let the LDS religion worry you. There are a lot worse things out there. Typically, strong LDS areas have excellent family values. Crime is not an issue. So, if you have more liberal values, you may not like LDS areas. They tend to be quite conservative. I am Catholic, but have many LDS friends. Business wise, they tend to promote who ever works the hardest. I have not seen business decisons based on religious background. I suppose it could happen in a really small town with a narrow minded business owner, but who would want to work for someone like that anyway...

As far as females and the LDS religon goes...my daughter is currently engaged to a young LDS fellow. It's the best thing that could have happened to her. He's a great guy with very stong morals. The Mormons have also had to empower women more and more every year; so the limits for women you talk about don't really exist anymore, at least from what I have seen. It comes down to the dual role economy where, in many cases, it takes both husband and wife working to make ends meet.

One thing to remember, if you go fishing with a Mormon friend, make sure you take two of them, otherwise he will drink all of your beer .

No offense MonkeyLips, but we are talking about a religion where Polygamy was a semi accepted practice. Granted, LDS doesn't ignore it like they used to, but all the same. It is however, interesting that many of the people posting on this topic have views that are in fairly sharp contrast to what I have witnessed/heard. So perhaps things are changing and what I have witnessed in the past is no longer relevant. That would be a good thing. I don't want to sound overly critical of LDS. I have that guilty feeling lurking in the back of my mind (or perhaps that is a flashback of being blinded by Marie Osmonds teeth) as I post this. I know there are good people everywhere....just as there are bad....and as with anything, it is the bad that everybody remembers.

Enjoy your shelter from Kalifornication in Idaho Falls. I remember when I too, was sheltered. Those days are long gone! In Northern Idaho, I have housing tracts popping up everywhere. The Real Estate market is white hot. It has been for several years now and continues to flourish. The majority of homes are priced outside of local residents grasp, so it is clear that the door has swung wide open to the Californians. But on the bright side, I am close to the largest Dodge dealer in the world. And I am close to another who is chasing up Dave Smiths (in Kellog) butt real hard (Dishman in Spokane)! This has resulted in some nice aggressive pricing between the two. I prefer Dishman myself.

No offense taken...I see you live near Coeur D'Alene, CA. That area has gone bizerk, much like the Boise area. I've bought 2 trucks from Dave Smith. A Dogde in '96 and a GMC in 2001. Over the years, they seem to have lost some of their personal touch. Since '01, I can get just as good of deal here in the Boise area. Seems many of the dealers around here are selling at invoice anymore & you keep the rebates/incentives. That wasn't the case in '96. Enjoy the growth and congestion up there! I'll do the same down here

New Cummins 600,

You live very close to me, I'm in Post Falls. Let's get together sometime! You also might be interested in the Northwest Bombers! We have a great, active group in the Northwest! Bomb parties, Dyno Days, Camping trips, etc.

That is a SERIOUSLY nice rig Bob. In all honesty, I think it is the most impressive Dodge I have ever seen. If it were black I think I would be suffering from some form of compulsive obsessive must steal that pick up type sickness! You actually got it right off the train? Yeah...I would be interested in hooking up. I'm actually in Post Falls myself, so we are most likely bumping into one another and not knowing it.

I see you went with Dishman too. I sure thought they treated me a lot better than DS.

That is a full replacement bumper from Road Armor! I went to Eugene on Friday to get it, then stopped at Rip's (Source Automotive) to install it and the 6" stainless steel exhaust stinger!

The mudflaps & rocker panels come from Jason at NorthWest Custom. His shop is south of Spokane in Fairfield. He makes some awesome accessories including twin turbos. His truck will dyno 700+ HP! Sometimes Jason is a little hard to get ahold of, If you have this problem give me a call or email me and I can help you get in contact with him.

I have been very active in TDR, DTR and NWBombers for many years. You learn where to find the accessories you are looking for from these sites. I purchase most of my accessories from the suppliers internet sites after extensive research. Rip and Jason are active members of the NorthWest Bombers.

I sent you a PM about a lunch get together on Saturday, come and meet some of the guys!
