I know this is probably sounding like a broken record but...
I am stepping up from a first gen and more than likely into a CR. My father has owned his since new and I am looking to invest in a truck that will last for a long time. After getting the floors and cab mounts and rockers replaced its just not worth all the time and hassle for something that doesn't have any major value.
That being said I am looking to upgrade. At the moment I am looking at an 06 rclb auto truck with a 6in lift, 35 in tires on 20in fuel hostage rims with a 5in straight exhaust and a cold air intake. Truck has 82k original miles and is a Laramie. Should there be anything in particular I should look for besides general wear and tear? The lift would more than likely be coming off..depends on whether or not it grows on me but right now I would want it gone. Any opinions or tips would be greatly appreciated..I will be surfing the 3rd gen forum also. He is coming by and showing the truck tomorrow so I will come back with an update later tomorrow night. Thanks!

When test driving the tuck go for a very light cruise at first to see if it has a 1-2-1-2-1-2 etc, shift hunt. Thats a pretty common thing. Ask him what fuel filters he has been using as these CR's like their fuel clean due to the tight tolerances the Bosch system uses. Turn the AC on and make sure it blows out of all the vents and switch it over to the heater to see if that comes on as well. This tests that the blend door is working properly, this is another weak point in the truck and would require you to pull the dash apart. Not that it would be a deal breaker but it would give you a bit more negotiating room. Ball joints are another weak link. Especially if it has a lift and 35's. Lets see what else... Umm Oh, take it up to over 70mph to see if you can get it to "Death Wobble" some trucks are plagued with this while others are not. Jus another thing to test since it has suspension mods and 35s. Take the oil filler cap off while the truck is idling and place your hand over the hole to check for excessive blowby. If I think of more things to look at I will let you know. Good luck.

Some maintenance type things:
- Check under to see if the oil pan is rusting through. You don't want to have to deal with replacing it.
- Check the #4 injector line & insulator that they're snug and haven't been rattling around (could lead to a line failure & replacement).
- Look for the block heater plug, easy to install but one less thing you have to do
- Check the coolant bypass hose under the manifold to see if its the new replacement (orange hose w/spring clamps) or the original (orange hose wrapped with foil looking stuff and band clamps). If original it'll likely be needing attention in the winter.
- If the intake is K&N check the hose and turbo for dusting
Obviously these things are not deal breakers but they're things that have needed attention from owners.
