Talking I don't care any more.

Well, I’m done. I decided not to look at the OHC or calculate my MPG. I’m tired of driving like an old lady to try to get the best gas mileage I can. From now on, I’m driving the way I want. The way I envision myself driving this awesome machine when I bought it. I did not spend 40K+ to be driving like an old lady. I bought this truck because of the awesome power it has. So from now on I don’t care if I get 11, 12 or 20 mpg. I’m just going to enjoy my Truck.

Best thing you can do is tow with it. I was living with 12-13 mpg all around until I did a trip to Moab, UT towing my Jeep. Now she has been getting 14-16 doing the same commute. Use it, it really helps when it's new....

"Flyfsh70" I agree 100% with you. Drive it and enjoy it. I didnt even get mine yet, And I will drive the way I want, without worrying about milage. Ive seen sooooo many posts about this, and I say to myself, Its a 7,000+lb. truck, aerodynamic as much as a brick, and still can get 16 mpg, why complain?? On todays roads in N.Y. you cant just do 55 anymore, thats what they are doing in the emergency lanes!! (I know, its sad)

Lifes short, drive it enjoy it, and if your so worried about milage, buy a hybrid!!

Drive it like you stole it.

It will run better too!

Actually, I don't notice much difference from the "old lady" syndrom to "lead foot". Just drive it.

If you really want to save fuel;

1. Plan your trips, cut your miles.
2. Air Pressure in your tires.
3. Get rid of extra weight. (One battery is the summer?) Tools, spare tire, ect.

At about 23,000 miles I get better mileage with the HOT Juice on 80hp mode and looking for someone trying to pass me. I babied mine for about 4,000-5,000 miles thinking that is better for mileage. I now race anyone that looks my way with that look. I drive 75-80mph on the highway. I smoke my 315s just to irritate people. My mileage is up around to 14.5mpg city(all stop, stop, stop, go) and 17.5 highway. I could probably get 19-20mpg highway if I could drive 60-65mph on the highway. The truck is running great now, the more I put my foot on the floor the smoother it runs. I now drive it like I stole it and no one can catch me.

If I recall correctly, I was putting an EZ and my Ram Air 3 on the truck in the showroom while they put the plates on it.

First patch of rubber from the duals was on the way out of the showroom.

As mentioned, tire pressures and tire condition makes a big difference.

Clean filters, synthetic lubes, etc all add up to some better mileage, but sometimes I wonder about the offset in costs....then I crank the Ramifier with the Bully Dloader and go.

This past winter I was pulling a total weight of 33,000 pounds going 65-70 mph getting 9 mpg with the ez I had on level 5 and the VA on the middle setting. I promised myself not to look at the overhead. Then I had to go and hand calculate it.

Since I drive mixed city/hiway, and never go through an entire tank of gas without having a trailer hooked up at some point, I did a little test one day.
I drove a 150 mile trip with the computer reset to 0. I babied it the whole day, and drove the speed limit at all times. This netted me mixed driving/empty mpg of 17 on the overhead, not calculated for the bigger tires so 18.5 +/- mpg.
By the time I got home that evening, I was ready to pull my hair out.
My normal habits of driving net me 14 mpg depending on how much I tow during that tank.
This is with 6k on the odo, so I'm expecting an increase over the next year.

no offense, but getting rid of a couple hundred lbs of battery/tools/spare is just silly!! a couple hundred lbs is a gnat's fart to one of these trucks... zero difference, but at least you'll be stranded on the side of the road!

planning trips and air in tires are excellent suggestions.

slowing down on the highway is the biggest thing you can do...

I have given up caring also... what's a couple more bucks at the pump in order to actually ENJOY driving the thing?

That reminds me... gotta clean out the toolbox. Looking for something else, I discovered that small anvil I bought at an auction about 4 months ago.

The mind is the first thing to go.

Wonder what other goodies I'll find?

On topic, I just fuel up and go. Do yell at the wife when she makes unncessary trips tho

yeah, the biggest thing you can do is reduce the amount of driving you do... combine errands, call ahead (not that that always works! ) etc.

I do pull with it about once a month. 8000# TT. But the rest of the month is just city driving. My commute to work is 4 miles round trip. If I don't make sure I drive it on the weekends I can go one month with out refueling.

Truck is one year and two months old and the odo. just tuned over 10k miles.

So for the mean time I'm just going to drive it like a bat out of hell till is broken in. At this rate in another year and a half
