I am going to buy new tires this week.

I love them and will continue to run them, even though they are getting pricey, with this kind of mileage, I don't mind so much.
( but I'm picky about my paint )

www.toyotires.ca - FINALLY something we got and you guys don't!!!!!
Seriously though - 295/70r17, with a load capacity of 3960 lbs, the tread pattern is a little more aggressive than I really want, but I've had them on a previous truck, they're quiet, wear well, and are amazingly smooth, can't wait till mine show up (mid november).

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

I will be needing new tires by December so am very interested in this thread. 17" tires are almost not available in my area and the tire dealers do not list them so need your knowledge and experience. I will be in the San Antonio, Texas area after Christmas so will be looking for a place that can replace my tires. Any suggestions as to where to go?
I am thinking of jumping up to 315's but am not yet sure of which brand to go to. The majority of my driving is highway and when I do go on unpaved roads they are red gumbo and as far as I can tell, no tread design works in that stuff as it builds up and sticks too fast. I have the Michelin's on now and they have been good. Have abused them by driving over all kinds of brush, hitting sidewalls on the stupid curbs here and more, but they have held up and so far have not required balancing. I am a bit disappointed in the wear rate as I have only 39,000 miles on them and am very close to the wear bars. I don't burn rubber either.
What brand and size would you guys recommend for the tire that provides the most comfort with no load? Ditto for providing the best wear? I realize that these two do not always go together. A quiet riding tire is also of interest, but in a truck that would rate last. I am thinking of going with the Michelin 315's but after reading about other brands would consider something else.
Any idea of the going price for Michelin 315's?
On my cars the best tires I have ever had have been the Yokahama's. They improve the ride, are very quite and are great in wet weather. Anybody have any knowledge if they make a tire to fit our trucks?

You guys with low mileage out of your BFG must have a problem, alignment or too much power! I easily go 70,000 on the dually and then swap them over to one of my trailers with 4/32 still showing. I even rotate every 10,000. Of coarse most are highway miles.
I run BFG on all my 4wd, 3 differant sizes, and get 60-70k out of them all. I never had a Cooper go that long! or even perform close!
You can't beat a BFG AT KO for the best all around tire on a 4WD. I sell them all and BFG are on my trucks.
I have 70,000 miles on my BFGs and they still have several thousand miles left in them. Mine are the KOs or some people call them Tri-Guards but they are ATs. I don't know if all BFG ATs are the same but I will definitely buy another set when these are worn out. I have had them rotated once and that was at about 50K. My driving is about 90% highway but since I am working on an electrical highline I do a lot of driving on loose rocks, sand, and cactus. There is rarely any mud down here in south Texas!

Mexstan,
I have the BFG 315s (H2 takeoffs) with about 50,000 miles on them and they will still go for another 10K or so. With rotation at about every 15K they have remained quiet on the road. And I have rebalanced them once. If you drive mainly on the road they seem a little big to me and and I will be changing to probably 295s next time. The problems are that they tend to steer the truck a lot more than the stock size and the mileage dropped about 1.5 MPG. I love them for off road, but I drive far more highway miles and am getting tired of them. I also have a second set of takeoff tires and wheels ready to go but I'll save them for desert trips and get some better all around tires for general use.
It sounds like tires are harder to get where you are. If you want the 315s then the BFGs should be the easiest to get and they are good tires. Or, when you are in the states again, just pick up a set or two of takeoffs.
