HVAC control removal help

Have a few lights out in my HVAC control. Went to the dealer and got the replacement bulbs for the unit ($2.20 each!) and was wondering if there are any tricks to removing the trim panel around the radio and HVAC control. Do you have to remove the wood grain trim piece around the radio first? My 02 1500 just snapped in but i tried this evening to "pop" this one out and it is very tight in there. Didnt try too hard but just thought id get some input before I get my meathooks on it real hard. Im sure many of you guys have taken this off howda do it?

Yes, that whole panel comes off with the control head attached. I start at the top next to the cluster. It's the only edge to grab hold of. Pull sharply.

There are two vertical screws at the bottom corners. On my 6-spd you have to pull the console panels to get to 'em.

Mine's an auto...more center console to remove. Yes, that is how you do it.
