How do you tell if you have the 6 disc CD changer with Navigation?

Just picked up an 03 Laramie with Navigation. Build sheet from Dodge says it has a 6 disc changer. I don't see a load button or anything like that. How do you put in multiple discs? Or maybe the sheet is wrong and it doesn't have it?

Anyone have a picture of their navigation unit with the CD changer?

Thanks for the help

look in the owners manual , there should be different pics of the stereo's in it and it might say it on the front of the radio if its a 6 disc or not. on the front of mine it says single disc in small white letters at the bottom. you might also try putting in a disc and see if you can load another one after that and if you can you've got the 6 disc unit, if not its the single.

Searched and from what I found the navigation unit was only available with an external CD changer?

So, I guess that means the previous owner replaced the in dash 6 disc with the Nav system.

I have Sirius so its no big deal. Was just curious.

If you can't find your way home and the same 14 songs keep replaying.

Have you look in you glove box for the Factory Installed Options codes such as RB1, RB4, or RBQ? Have you looked under your seat? Or in the bottom center console/seat? How about under the back seat? These are the places that I think the factory would put a factory installed 6 Disc Changer into the ram. Since I am on a new computer and do not have my service manual downloaded to it yet, I would normally quote from the book on where they locate the disc changer. I may have to get back to you on it.

Usually a six disc changer comes with a disc clip to load all six at once or the face will have six slots. Since you sound like you may not either have one, I am wondering if your build sheet was to mention that it was capable of a six disc changer, but not installed. I have the RB4 Navigation Radio/CD that can support a Dodge/OEM six disc changer that is available from my local dealership parts department if I want one. Although, I have never tried to put more than one disc in, but my display shows the possibility it might be able too. Your 03 should have a RB1 Radio if it came from the factory that way. The RB1 is like mine except that it shows a "map" instead of the "turn by turn" directions when using the Navigation Features.

On a side note:
When I was looking at the options for my truck, I noticed in Late 2004-2005 that the Navigation Radios had changed from the RB1 to the RB4 Radio Units. This changed again in 2006 Rams when the trucks got the same or similiar radios as the Magnums and Chargers with the bigger dash opening.

Sorry this is so long, but I hope it helps a little bit.

Shawn
