Well, I have 3000 miles on my new 04. I truly love it. The problems I have so far are:
1.Drivers window moans going up and down
2.Passenger window moves up and down more slowly than the other 3
3. Now my 6 disc in dash changer is on the fritz. Even the day I picked up the truck, it started acting funny. At one point it wouldn't play disc 1 or 2, or eject them. It just kept clicking and clicking and eventually said 'disc error'. Somehow or another it fixed itself and worked ok for a little while, and now has totally gone dead. It clicks and pops and will not release or play any of the 6 discs in there!! What a POS. Time for my first warranty visit I guess. It also is(was) VERY VERY picky about burned cds that have small amounts of scratches. My other cd players have never had any problems with these exact same cds, but this one skips like crazy. How have everyone else's 6 disc been???

 

I was going to have my seperate 6 disc changer switched from my 97 Dakota to my 03 Ram but they said that the plugins were diffrent so I couldn't use it!!
They tried to sell me a new 6 disc but I don't mind changing the disc in my tuner when it runs out.

the 1 disc in my truck has worked great with both factory & burned CD's.

Man I was hoping the factory radios have gotten more reliable. The premium CD infinity system in my Dakota started acting funny ejecting discs early on, now the amplifier has a wierd short or something whereby I have to hold various buttons in to hear all the speakers and the CD player has been toast for sometime. Too lazy to replace i guess, and one speaker is fine for talk radio.

New 6 disc system in the RAm seems to work fine so far but I am not holding my breath. Funny thing was the day I got my new truck I shoved one of my father in laws CD's in there to test out the speakers and I wasn't able to figure out how to get it out of there until I went over the manual. I told him "looks like Its staying in there Now" ;D

 

Lightman, did you run a cleaner thru it to see if that minimizes the disk error issues? Oh, mine has no problems with burned CDR's, but some players are more sensitive than others. Haven't used any CDRW's.

 

What does the front face of the 6 disc changer look like? Although, I didn't order the 6 disc, my buttons have a Disc 1 and Disc 6 button. Dangit, Maybe I should read the radio section of the manual.

 

my changer has been fine plays burned cd's no problem it shouldnt be too poor in quality its made by Alpine

 

i have the 6 disc changer too and also hope that it holds up well. yours is the first that i have heard going bad, but i haven't tried any home recored cdrw's. hope yours gets fixed quickly.

otoh, i am not going to condemn the 6 disc changer based on one person having a problem with it. if more people start having a problem with it, maybe then, but a search here does not support that.

 

Four months worth of use so far, and it works perfectly.

 

Good to hear some of them are working perfectly. FWIW, it only started having problems when it had a full 6 discs loaded in it. When I just had 2 or 3 it seemed to be fine. I have not tried any CDRW's, just burned CDR's that work fine in every other cd player I've ever had. I haven't tried running any cleaner through it, I dont feel like I should have to since it's only 3 weeks old, and anyway at this point it wont eject ANY of the discs! Just makes an awful clicking noise. Looks like it might need to be replaced. I wish they would credit me the money for it and I could pay the difference to upgrade to the RB4 GPS radio, those look pretty cool, although the screen is tiny.

 

I bet they would credit it toward an RB 1 or RB 4. The good thing is the radio is easy to change out. Now if you hadn't stuffed all those CDs into a single CD player.....

 

I just wish I could have gotten a single DIN cd player from the factory, trashed it, and put in this alpine xm ready deck I have sitting here. Oh well, the 6 disc in dash seemed like a nice little novelty. Hopefully the replacement works, or they'll credit me toward a rb4 gps radio.. I wonder if it requires separate satellite antennas or anything though..

 

It will have a seperate antenna for the SAT. I think the Dodge Sat receivers are Seris (Sp) not XM.
