Picked up my new 2004.5 2500 tonight. I had spoken with the finance guy at the dealership who stated I would only get the best cash back incentive, not the cash back and 0% financing.
After seeing the posts here and the phone number to chrysler financial, I contacted them and they indeed confirmed that as long as the 2K+0% plan was in effect at the time of order, then I was eligible for that offer. I then had my dealer contact that same person and that was all I needed.
Tonight I picked up my truck that stickered for $41,355 and invoiced for $37,095. I paid invoice minus 2k minus $500 farm bureau rebate at 0% for 48 mos.
I am a happy man!!

Did the finance guy seem embarassed or mad? I'm pretty sure I'm going to have this hassle when mine comes in, so I already have that number and contact person written down.
You know, we can't just "walk" either. Even if you can FIND another truck at another dealer, you aren't going to get the deal, because on this offer isn't in effect now, and you only had sold order protection on the truck you walked away from.

Finance guy acted like he did nothing wrong. I decided not to rub it in his face.
I am currently getting my BFG 315's installed and speedo recalibrated by the same dealer. I'm sure they will screw that up also. I think its hard to find people who take pride in their jobs anymore.
I have become very skeptical in my old age.

I go back in today to re-sign for 2000 + 0%. Grrr, another trip to the dealer, but at least for a good reason. Wexman, I completely agree about not being able to "walk". I went into buying the truck pretty naively. I did my dealing with the salesman and wanted to talk with the financing and warranty guy, but the salesman said that I could talk with him when the truck came in and in order for him to order he needed me to sign the build and price plus give a deposit. After that, I had no power. They had a deposit on the build. They had the truck I wanted and no one else in a 500 mile radius had anything comperable I wanted, plus they had my deposit money. I feel "lucky" I was able to get the 2000+0 without any barganing power besides going and complaining to DC customer service. Oh well. I guess it all turned out and gave me some lessons for the future.

My salesman took my credit app when her ordered the truck, and I got a "preliminary approval" from Chrysler Financial about 2 weeks after I ordered. I guess it depends on the dealer.
I'm still going in armed with that number, because I've heard that I "might" have a hassle with this dealer's finance people.

I haven't picked up the truck. But (and not trying to brag, just stating a fact) I have a very high credit scores, so they should paying ME!
I know that I QUALIFY for 0%, it's just going to get my dealer to HONOR what the committed to that I'm worried about.
On edit: Sorry Doug, thought you were asking me. I see now you were asking Bobo.

Boogerman(Doug),
No probs. with financing. I guess Wexman and I could probably go head-to-head
. I love charging big items and paying them off right away. Anyway, my credit qualified me for 3.6% which wasn't bad, but it wasn't 0%. So, qualifying for 0% once I clarified that I was eligable(sp?) for the program wasn't a trouble.
I forget, have I mentioned how fun my truck is to drive?

educating dealers
It seems there is a consensus that the dealers are clueless and that chrysler financial has been very helpful in the financing of our vehicles.
I completed my financing two days ago with 2K + 0% x 48mos. I did have the finance manager from the dealership call me today to ask for the phone number and person I talked to at DC. Isn't amazing they had to ask me for the number!
I actually picked up my truck tonight. I had the 315's put on and speedo recalabrated. It seems to be right on. Of course it wasnt detailed like they said it would be when I got there after work. I came back after dinner and it was ready to go.
I love this truck. I am selling my 02 ram quad 2wd to buy this one. The new one looks like a giant next to the 2wd.

Picking up a Flame Red 2004.5 3500 SLT 4x2 tomorrow, CTD, auto, Reg Cab, DRW, got it for about $6k off the $34,400 list, but my own financing. I REALLY like that auto, very nice tranny. Good forum, I learned lots reading it this past week.

Remember, the VAST majority of their buyers probably don't read these Internet forums, and are getting the shaft with this financing. The finance managers know what is going on (that's their job).I am in the mortgage business, and if we tried some of the "oh, no, that offer is not good anymore, oh...wait, there is an 800 number to call??
" technique that these guys try, my company would be out of business, and up on charges.Makes me disgusted. I know there are some good ones out there, but MOST are out to get you for what they can.
Go in well armed with that 800 number, and be firm, but POLITE.
I found some interesting wording while reading my pink order sheet which prices my truck. On the 'rebate' line, saleperson wrote in $2000, which was deducted from price. Sales person also wrote in "0% for up to 48 months"
Down in the fine print is the following wording:
"The contract price of this motor vehicle cannot be increased after this contract has been accepted by the dealer or authorized dealer representative unless the increase is due to the passage of a law of regulation of the United States or the Commonwealth which: requires the addition of new equipment to certain vehicles......and other fine print.
Now, while I am getting some side steps which is bumping the price a bit, I have SIGNED contract with that rebate written in. So, at a MINIMUM, they could not take the rebate away. AS to the 0%, that is written in also, which means (to me) that they must at LEAST attempt to get you that (of course credit could be denied at rate for some), but, if you have that contract, they could not just say "no: outright. No need to call the DC number??
Any legal eagles here wish to interpret or comment?
