Help-Mystery wires and connectors

Hi folks. I am not the original owner of my truck and I have found some aftermarket wires and connectors that have been added by someone else. I would like to ask for a little help in identifying these things. In the picture of the stuff on the floor, all of it was wrapped up together with the factory wires below the parking brake pedal. The other picture shows a relay connected to factory wires that are located on the bottom of the steering column, which head underneath the bottom steering column cover. Any thoughts? Thanks. Don

I forgot to mention; one aftermarket wire is connected to a factory wire (white with green stripe) that is connected to the headlight switch. I thought this relay had something to do with making the fog lamps stay on when the high beams are on, but that doesn't happen. Don

The wire going to the headlight wire probably had something to do with gauges.

That big white connector looks familliar, can't place it. Transmission controller? Did you look at the tranny to see if it's stock?

That small black box and the two small connectors looked like my turbo timer and remote start stuff.

Could be anything, I'm just throwing it out there.

Did you look at the manifold to see if there was a pyro tapped?

Looks to me like an alarm/remote start also. If you can list the colors and locations of the wires that arre tapped I can tell you what the intent of the wiring was. If it is an alarm, the headlight tap is to flash the headlights/signals on alarm....Need more info first.

FWIW those wires are pretty heavy gauge, which leads me to think remote start...and the pic of the taps have matching colors to thee long white plug. 8-10 Gauge, And I would bet the little box is the timer or if that truck came with the grey SIM key, a decoder.

I never thought about an alarm or remote start. I was thinking all along some sort of programmer, but those seem to use the OBD port.

Madhat-the tranny is stock OEM and the manifold has not been tapped for a pyro probe.

05CTDN8-To the right of the blue brake control connector, wires running below a white, rectangle shaped plastic cover: purple/green (2 places), brown/orange, brown/green.

From a white connector above the blue brake control connector: orange/red, (larger diameter than the others)

Directly to the left of the steering column: purple/white, purple/yellow, purple (no tracer)

Wire from the headlight switch: white/green

All these wires are for the stuff on the floor in the picture.

Also, there was a homemade/aftermarket pigtail connected in series to the headlight switch wire. I removed the electrical tape and found a diode.

If this turns out to be for an alarm, I guess i'll remove all wire and taps. Thanks for the replies. Don

Does the frame show any signs of a plow being there previously?

Nope, no signs of a plow being installed. Also probably doubtful as my truck is 2wd. If it turns out that these aftermarket things are for a remote start, I would just need to find the manufacturer of what I currently have and buy the required components. The hard work (wiring) is already done! Don

Hi Kthiemann. After everyone's help here, that is what it appears to be. Do you happen to remember who made your alarm/remote start? Thanks. Don

If memory serves I want to say it was a Silencer, I just took a harder look at the pics you have up and I think what is left is the remote starter portion of the system.
