Heavy Duty oil plug for 2005
Heavy Duty oil plug for 2005
I changed my oil for the first time yesterday. I had read that the oil drain plugs for the Cummins were prone to cracking so I ordered a heavy duty plug from Geno's Garage to replace it.
The original plug unscrewed easily--finger removal after initially using a rachet to break it loose. I went to put in the new plug and it fit very tight. The more I screwed it in the tighter it became so I pulled it out at about the halfway point and put the original plug back in. The original went in easily with just my fingers and I torqued it to 37 pounds per the owner's manual. No leaks after running the engine for about 10 minutes.
Anyone use this type of oil plug? Is it a tight fit compared to the original?
