Guage problems?
Guage problems?
I was driving at a steady 80mph in my truck today on the highway for about 2.5 hours. The truck ran fine didn't shift much at all at that speed when I was pulling off the highway I glanced at my guages and my trans temp was pinned at 280 deg. So I pulled over as quickly as I could safely and put the truck in neutral to check the fluid. Checked the fluid and it was fine didnt' smell burnt and wasnt low. I tapped on the amp box for the temp. guage and the guage went back to 165 deg. and I was pulled over for about 3 minutes. Anyone ever have problems with this happening to them?

Yes it has happend to me last year. It was the amplifier box. Temperature would rise to 260 then fall to 120 within 1 minute. I kept stopping to check the dipstick just like you mentioned. After the 3rd or 4th time I put tape over the gauge to finish my trip. I called Dieselmanor and was infromed that they had problems with a few of the amplifier boxes. They sent me a whole new set, no problems. Seems that the gauge, amplifier box and probe are calibrated togeather and comes as a set. Hope yours is still under warranty.
i have had both my isspro tranny temp gauges (hot and cool side) since march- i have had three amp boxes replaced already- waiting on the arrival of the fourth!! they are on back order- not due in until the first or second week of august-according to isspro tech- they get them from overseas (no surprise) the manufacturing facility overseas was on strike.
