My condenser is getting quite beat up with stones & whatever. Thinking of getting the MPC grille guard from Genos Garage. Anyone have any experience with this item? Will it stop the debris & will it allow enough air flow to keep the engine from over heating? Any other ways to stop the debris?

 

go buy a piece of window mesh from the local hardware store and attach it behind the grill. that is what i have done and i have no problems with bugs or rocks now. every once in awhile i wash the mesh off. good luck

 

The mesh sounds ok for bugs but will it stop rocks from passing vehicles? Am driving to AK this summer and was thinking of the grill guard from Geno's as well.

I would recommend the Kilby guard. There is a photo of mine in my gallery, with a link in the description...

 

I went to Lowes and bought a screen door protector (the kind to keep pets from destroying the screen). It cost me 20 dollars as well as some zip ties and spray paint (it came brown). 20K and the fins are all still in good shape.

 

I purchased the door screening as well. Put it on 25K miles ago with no problems. It seems to stop both rocks and bugs. The fins on mine are prefect.

 

I have the MPC grill guard and it not what you are thinking. It is a stainless steel cover for the top of the condenser to keep it from being all dented up when you are working on your truck. I use common plastic household screening to protect the front and it works great. The bugs and pebbles just fall right off of it. If you're really concerned about rocks then I would recommend the Kilby condenser cover, which is on the same page of the Genos catalog, and also add some screen on top of that. I just tiewrapped mine at the corners and it has worked great...

 

Kilby here too. Works nice. Would recommend it.

the screen works fine and is cheap. you can even double layer it. it is alot cheaper then the protecter grills,I have it on mine and have had no problem and drive in a heavyliy rock infested area. it is your money,

 

will the kilby condenser guard and the MPC grill guard work together? can you bolt bolt of them up or does one interfere with the other?

I believe they can be used together. Check with Geno's to be sure.

The Kilby guard wraps across the top corner of the condensor, anyway, so I don't think you would really need the MPC, unless you just like the look of it.
