goosneck hookup instalation for 03

has anyone had a goosneck reciever installed yet on their 03?i know it cant be the same as the 02 because of the frame difference.is it a complete bolt on deal,as i understand drilling into the frame gets dodge very excited, and approx. cost.thanks.

get a b&w turnover. one 4 inch hole in the bed and everything else uses existing holes and u-bolts to clamp to the frame. couldn't be easier. also a 7k 30k rating.

I agree...the B&W turnover ball is the only way to go...got mine installed for 499 including hooking up the brake controller...you can buy direct from Turnoverball.com for $350 + shipping...have fun.

I didn't have a turn over ball dealer locally.

SO, I went with the cody gooseneck hitch. This hitch has two bolts on ecah side that go into the frame on one side of the tube only, one hole in the truck bed and the ball can be turned over without any levers. I think it was about $400. I believe Cody has recently added a U bot attachment also?

Drilling the frame is permissiable and there is posted on this site the details provided by DC on how and where to drill.

There is a picture of it in member's photos page 24. I will add one of the two bolts in the frame soon.

I put the B&W in and it was a piece of cake, work great and fits perfect. It also has pegs that fit into existing holes in the frame along with the clamps that keep it from ever moving.

Re:goosneck hookup instalation for 03

I didn't know about the B&W and was crunched for time so I had a local RV dealer install a Drawtite Remove-a-ball and do the wiring. A very neat job but they had trouble because it was their first 03. Then I had the bed Line-Xd to seal everything around the plate.

I went with the Remove-a-ball style, which was the same price, because a buddy has the hide-a-ball and he says it clanks at times under load while stopping or starting and it really gives him a near heart attack everytime it does.
