Good Dealer Experience

I've read a couple dozen dealer horror stories on here in the last month. Since I had my first "good dealer" experience while buying my new truck, I figure I'll share it.

I stopped by the Dodge dealer closest to my house in mid-Dec. I was checking out the new trucks & had a salesman approach me. I gave him the quick "do you know anything" test with a couple stat questions. He impressed me by knowing the answers to all my questions. In fact, 2 other salesmen walked up & asked him questions on the trucks while I was there. I told him I needed to know if the truck would fit in my garage before getting serious. He answered a bunch more questions & let me walk off the lot without any hassle.

I went back a couple weeks later & got a truck & took it home. For better or worse - it fit. I went back & told him it fit, but I wasn't sure it was what I wanted. Again - no hassle.

I went back again & got serious about figuring out what I wanted. We got right down to pricing a truck on the lot vs. ordering a truck. I couldn't decide so I walked again - no hassle.

I did a bunch of research - mostly on this page - thanks! I called him up with a spec list for the truck I wanted. He called back a couple hours later with the trucks that existed in the state that would fit the bill. I took the wife over to check out the colors & talk it over. We settled on a truck & told them to get it.

In addition to the other issues & trips, I also traded in 2 vehicles on the new truck. I told my salesman what I wanted to do up front & what kind of deal I wanted. I've bought several new vehicles & am willing to negotiate for days to get the right deal. I told him I'd buy my truck there if they would give me the right deal with the first offer.

In between these "almost-bought it"s, I went to a couple other dealers & had a very good idea what the trucks were going for & what my trades were worth. When I finally settled on a truck, they came in substantially better than anyone else - on the first offer. I told them it was a deal.

Since then, they've continued to convince me that they will get all my business. They give customers "Sale's Price" on parts & labor. I figured this would be BS - but they've been the best deal on almost all parts I've bought. I even bought my 315 BFG AT's from them.

More important than the price has been the service & attitude. My salesman has treated me like a partner through the whole process. He's been honest & helpful.

I have bought plenty of vehicles, but this is the first time I've ever given a recommendation on a dealership. It's also the first time I didn't immediately throw all of the salesman's business cards in the garbage as soon as I drove off the lot.

I hope this message is received in the spirit it's intended. I have NO affiliation to this dealer or salesman. You guys have been very helpful in answering my questions & I just hope others can benefit by my good experience.

Ok, if you don't want to see who the dealer is - hit "Back" now!

The dealer is Doug Smith in American Fork, Utah.

The salesman is Dempsey Bowling. You can reach Dempsey at 801-492-1110.

Thanks again for everyone's helpful info! If I can answer any questions on this subject - feel free to post or email.

Guy

Re:Good Dealer Experience

I wish Dempsey would have been there when I visited them.

I can't even remember the name of the salesman that "helped" me there, but he had to scribble someone elses name off their card and write in his.

Hindsight being 20/20, I wish I would have gone back to them and given them a 2nd chance though, my experiences with the dealer I got mine from are getting worse and worse.
(service wise)

Won't name names, but he "backs you up" .

phox

Re:Good Dealer Experience

I had a great buy experience and additionally the dealer put me in for a special program that reduced the price by $315.02 even over 2 months after I bought the truck. I would have never known if the dealer had pocketed the money. Last night I got the check in the mail.

Dealer: Allen Samuels Dodge, Fort Worth TX The salesman Keith Tremble. They were cheapest, and very cool. Got my business for next time.
No affiliation with dealer or salesman. I was just impressed.
