I dont care how big the shafts are in an allison or how many gears it has. guys build powerglides in drag racing because they are less parts to break and cause problems. so to me a 48RE is better because it has less parts to mess up. but what do I know? I would like to see a comparison of a built allison and a built 48RE and how much power they can hold.
dude Ive been here just as long as you have and havent gotten banned for being an idiot. I know what it takes to run a forum and what sort of dumb behavior isnt tolorated and I never act like that on here. so chill out.

12.9 is not fast. For all out racing, a 48re blows the allison away. allison's gear ratios are terrible for racing, too many gears, and being a clutch to clutch trans if you make it shift too fast you get a tie up and boom. To hold big power you need to shift really fast. you see the problem here...it was designed to shift like a caddy, tow huge loads, and last a million miles at stock power. no comparison to the old 48re at the race track. buck and jess spruill (9 second 4wd dmax) switched to a dodge trans because they couldnt keep the allison's together. They picked up 2 or 3 10ths of a second just with the swap.

Im a member on pretty much any diesel forum there is because I like these diesel pickups in general. If you'll take a second to "find other posts by this user" you'll fine Ive bashed the dmax in more than a few threads for some of its stupid shortcomings. (uh, read the first post of mine in this thread???) Theres also a bunch of threads where I simply try to help out with tech stuff where I can. The ctd/48re swap into a ford excursion thread is a good example. I also greatly respect the ctd and have said so dozens of times. Larry and the other guys do an excellent job of running a tight ship here and If they felt I wasnt really serving any useful purpose here (ie, trolling) and contributing to the better of the community then they would have showed me the door a long time ago. Im leaving it at that because this is already way ot.

thats excatly what i've been saying, i like diesels all in general, JWB600 seemed to feel the same way as we do, but "Cuminapart" seemed to get all torn up about all my trucks i've had, and switching to a dmax now, i guess he missed the part where i said i've had a 03', 04', & a 04.5' CR....

I know you and "duratothemax" weren't trying to "start a war" here, but as you guys know sometimes we as Moderators have to come in and "cool the fire" so to speak! We all have our likes and dislikes on the diesel trucks and that's good. There is nothing wrong with talking things out either, just as long as we keep it respectful between Members and all. There have been some good points brought out in this thread and I just don't want to see it get "Closed' on you guys.

Thanks for your understanding.

No question they can run , but unless modded some , the Aly is going to show some serious slip after about 20 drag runs like that. Especially with a good bite on launch... They are a great trans stock , but they take away a bit more power due to the weight of the spinning components.

its your money. ive had about 17 cars and trucks and im 26 yrs. old. what you buy is your business and your choice. I get up and goto work just like you do and everyone else so if your interest is buying trucks then thats what it is. I would like to have a couple more dodges also. I just hate to see the one I have because all the time and money I put into it just to get where im at. lots of younger guys I know burn the money up at the bars or other places. I dont drink or have bad habits so I burn it up on my truck

It is interesting to hear other brand owners opinions. Durotothemax is knowledgable, makes good posts that are informative and technical, and is respectful. I like to go on other diesel brand sites too, just cause I like diesels. I've got an 87 6.9 ford with turbo that still runs good, now have my 06 Dodge that I love, and would love to have a nice GMC dually, but unless I win one, not anytime soon. I'm jealous of CTDowerTN, havin all those diesels, he must not be married. Or has a great wife.

we have a Produce farm ,strawberries, tomatoes & such, and do alot of hay...but i dont make that much money man, its just i dont have time to have any other hobbies like Bikes, ATVs, Horses, Camping, boats, nothing..so i put it in trucks, and if u got the hookup in the car bussiness its not hard to swap like i do, and not loose much....
