Most of those DMax boys pay someone to work on their trucks, there only seems like a few of em' that can make em sing. Thats why the "Fancy Pants Interior "means so much to them , not to mention the soft springs and IFS....

Yeah we are all just rich lazy snobs who throw money at the local diesel shop and say "do whatever needs to be done".

Im building an engine, have built 4 allisons, swapped drivetrains, put lifts on, stripped interiors, I tune my own engine and trans and oh, I designed/built a custom computer/integrated circuit to interface with my transmission computer so I can have the "tap-shift" (tip-tronic buttons on the shifter) in my 2005 truck. (they didnt get it factory until 2006)

Do I get any credit now?

My first post in this thread could have so easilly been "HAHA hes changing over" but no, it wasnt because Im not like that. Sorry ill be quiet now but that just rubbed me the wrong way.

Buck went with the 47re cause its mechanically controlled instead of electronic like the Allison, for racing like he does it was alot easier to control and swap...but as for mine, i just hated the hunting for gears, and clunking sound all the time

ok, well if u would have read the orignal post by me u would have seen that i've have been around a 800hp dmax for awhile now, and help with installing and taking out the motor 3 times. and as far as the interior goes, yeah the leather LT's are nice, but mine is cloth seats so that wasnt what made my decision... iam just a truck guy in general, i get new trucks all the time, iam 25 and have had 14 trucks since 16...so its nothing for me to swap...

Sure, you can have the credit. It appears you are one of the few I mentioned that can make one sing. Seem a little defensive though, I figured to spice this thread up a bit, didn't think I'd get a bite so quick... mission accomplished. By the way , your not a factory trained Tech are you ..., In your day job?

To CTDowerTN: 14 trucks in 9 years , Either you confirmed you've got some Bucks , never change the oil , Break a lot of stuff , can't decide your favorite color, Trade em when their out of fuel , or are having the time of your life attempting to rack up a new frequent trade in record at the dealer! sounds like you'll have a ways to go to catch up with Duratothemax,... only (helped) pull the motor 3 times....The only Question is... on the same truck?

I have no formal training in anything electrical, mechanical, or automotive. I just teach myself everything by making mistakes. First mistake, I dropped a 360 pound allison off a bench the first time I built one.

Gotta admit it , that Allison is a beefy SOB , How are you making them live at your torque levels? Must take a few tricks to handle 7700lbs/ launching in 4WD . 12.9 is a Quick run for a stock weight truck. ( you must like that "Purple" trans fluid.

well, i farm, so i have no time to play with anything other then my trucks i use, i've always had the hook up on the new trucks i bought, and for the used ones i went with a buddy who has a carlot to a sale, and pretty much steal one..lol...some would die if they knew what u could get a used diesel for that people trade in...but anyways, i just like to tinker with trucks, ive had a few F150s, a 7.3L, a 6.0L , 3 5.9L CR's, and now the dmax....and as for the helpin pull the dmax motor 3 times, it actually was on the same truck, cause he went a different route with it, everyone will see it in 08' believe me, he was suppose to be in the 07' diesel power challenge, but he owns a Harley dealer here and couldnt get away, but in 08' pullin season, and the DPC then name "Jason Smith" will be known...just like "Wicked1" got know in 07' at the DPC....thanks

BTW, i just dont see why some people get so torn up about the brand commitment thing...i mean, a guy driving a dodge says theres nothing else, and a ford guy, and a chevy guy..so on and so on, it dont make a hoot to me, i just like diesel trucks all in general. i dont see why u got torn up about my vehicle history, if u want me to i can go get me another CR. and pull the motor the next day and make a 900hp truck if that would make u not bash a fellow member still...i mean, it aint no thing for me to up and sell one.. i could just wait till u trade ur 6.7L in, and they tell u they give u 32K for it, and i;ll go buy it for 25K the next day... thats just how it is...

it aint hard to do that man, a buddy here had a crewcab LB7 stock turbo, stock injectors, with a bastard stack, ATS tranny, 90hp NX kit, and fuel pump and ran a 12.2 et. here at Bristol dragway....

I hauled a trailer from southern colorado to bowling green kentucky and ran a 12.2 at 7200lbs, then towed it back with no problems. I really dont think the alisons are that strong. IMHO the tq shift tranny in the fords with good tuning will hold up the best.

whats the reason you get on here anyway? to just defend the allison/duramax combo or do you actually like dodges? im just curious. I will admit the that a duramax with mods on it is a fast truck, but you can get on here and beat it to death everyday how good an allison is and I wont ever own one. it wont happen. I dont care how big the shafts are in an allison or how many gears it has. guys build powerglides in drag racing because they are less parts to break and cause problems. so to me a 48RE is better because it has less parts to mess up. but what do I know? I would like to see a comparison of a built allison and a built 48RE and how much power they can hold.

Hey guys, lets try and keep the thread civil! So far so good, but it looks like things might be going south here! Thanks.
