Try a boating product called 'Ducky'

It gets water spots off painted surfaces!

at my store we just use warm/soapy water, and then dry with coffee filters, the filters are coarse and really scrub the glass and leave it looking great, newspaper works great too but leaves your hands black.

"Spoke" Made by AutoMagic. Just wear good gloves, wipe it on with a rag then hose off with water. Its easy and works great on Chrome wheels also.

use rain-x on all outside windows it takes a bit of elbow grease but you'll remove all the waterspots on the glass and have a fantastic finish that repels water. I do this everytime I wax the truck.

Also, cheap glass cleaner. Use (1) teaspoon of ammonia,(1) teaspoon of dishwashing detergent (I use Dawn), and (1) cup of reg. alcohol, to a 32 oz spray bottle. (This will turn tinting that is aftermarket). But other than that a very cheap cleaner.

Or go to a glass store and ask for some glass polish, it's a very fine rubbing compound.

Now this reg. alcohol....can it be home made or do you recomend a particular brand. I don't really want to bust out one of my mason jars on some spotted glass.
