Gas in my 5.9

My fiancée decided to find what happens when you don't pay attention so now my 5.9 has 2 gallons of unleaded in before she caught then put in 10 gallons of diesel. What kind of problems am I about to have?

Two gallons, while not optimal is not much to worry over. I recommend you fill the tank full of diesel fuel and add a lubricant such as Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst. It can be found at Pep Boys.

Yeah, not ideal, but I think your fine...

Along with what Dizzle said, I would be sure to drain and change your fuel filter. "Diesel Kleen" (available anywhere) is also real good to run through your next couple fill-ups.

"Light Bulb": This might be a great time to spend some money on a couple performance parts and tell her they are replacements due to her error..

Put a quart of tranny fluid in the tank. Other stuff is ok But tranny fluid has the same lubricants diesel has. So a quart and a full tank and you are fine

That is awesome. Can you believe it ruined my gauges and I had to get a pillar of ISS Pros, Smarty, Air Dog filtration and of all things new wheels and tires....

tranny fluid is not the same as diesel lube and it is not good for the injectors it leaves deposits and nasty stuff

True. ATF will leave deposits. It would take more than just one use but it would be much better to put in a quart or two of 2 stroke oil (ashless TCW3 from walmart) since it was made to be burned! This will help keep the fuel system lubed. I run it every few tanks for a little extra piece of mind.

Personally I would want to drain it and start over with all good diesel.

A couple gallons won't hurt. Some good diesel additive will help the lubricity though. If I was out in the sticks I'd just run it. If you can add a diesel treatment it can't hurt.

Love the comment to buy new stuff. Like new 75hp injectors, a cam and a turbo!!

I just read a TDR article that said never use trans oil or Marvel.... Just not good in today's engines. I guess they worked great in the old diesels. Maybe carbureted diesels....

If it were me I'd drop at least some TCW3 2-stroke in there and fill to the brim with diesel and run it all out. If you want, soon as you run the tank down some, put in more diesel and tcw3 to increase the ratio but that just me being overkill.

Remember, ever 1/8th tank tick mark is a little over 4gallons. So keep that in perspective for how much gas went in.

So far so good thanks for the replies I didn't know about the two stroke oil. As for buying upgrades I've already thought about what I could convince her she ruined by doing that and I believe some good injectors would be easy to do. Any ideas on the best for my money?

I used to alternate driving my gasser and my diesel. One day i wasn't paying attention and put 35 gallons of super unleaded in my diesel.

I didn't try to start it but had it towed to my house where my father-in-law siphoned out all of it.

We then put in 5 gallons of diesel and we were good to go.
