Full Boar Exhaust Installed.. Little Problem..

I had a Full Boar Exhaust Muffler put on my truck yesterday. The muffler is nice and straight through, kind of like the aero.
After installation, i noticed that it made no difference in sound (it kinda makes a low deep tone about 2500 rpm, but has a lot of cab noise then). Id like to have the not too loud, but nice throaty tone that some guys have on their diesel trucks. Is there something I am missing here? Am I supposed to remove something else? I heard something about a silencer ring. What is that and does it need to be removed?
Again, Im looking for a throaty tone, but not a loud roar.

I have a turbo back Silverline...no cat and it comes with a straight through muffler and a 5" tip...sounds throaty and when I get into it, it's a LITTLE loud (nothing like some of the other setups I have heard) but when I'm traveling on the highway usually sitting around 22-2300 RPMs, it is almost silent. That's my favorite thing about it. I don't have to worry about 2000+ mile trips listening to drone the whole time.

Also, the silencer ring question that you had: The silencer ring is a ring installed behind a snap ring in the intake portion of your turbo located just before the impellar(where the intake tube connects to the turbo) that is made to quite the turbo down. In my opinion, it restricts the amount of airflow as well and just SHOULD be removed. However, with an aftermarket intake, it is going to make your turbo MUCH louder, but won't have any effect on your exhaust sounds.

How do I take the silencer ring out? I love the sound of the turbo. Plus, Im freeing up airflow, and this will help.

Remove the intake fully and look into the front of the turbo, you will see a little skinny ring, that is your snap ring and it is JUST forward of a larger, shinier ring, that is your silencer ring. Just take a flathead and wedge it between the snap ring and the silencer ring and pry the snap ring out...once it is out all you have to do is pull the silencer ring out, re-connect the intake good and tight and go for a drive...you might want to set out about an hour out of your day because if you really like the screaming of a turbo, you're not going to want to park her for a while...it sounds great! LOL My wife was ticked!

lol.
Im sure my wife will love it as well .
I wonder what it will do for your performance and economy. Im sure it will help a bit by increasing the air flow. This shouldnt hurt the turbo or engine, right?

As far as performance goes, I didn't notice much if any from removing the ring...economy stayed about the same too. As for hurting the turbo or engine...that's a negative. Just make sure that when you hook the intake back up, everythings good and tight.

You will see no power gain from removing the ring. It is there solely to quiet the whistle down for people who don't appreciate the wonderful whistle of a turbocharger.....

Just a thought??

Are you comparing your truck to other's you have heard drive by?
because I'm sure your truck is 5X loader if you have your wife drive off in it and you stay outside.

my buddy's 05 is not that loud in the cab and it's straight piped, but when he drops me off and drives away it's super loud IMO.
