fuel mileage
I just finally pulled my 28' gooseneck about 300 miles, trailer weights 4500#, and I had about 8000# on the trailer, no wind, 68 mph, 2005 2500 shortbox, 373 gears, auto, edge chip set at no.2, 285 tires, stock engine, I got 9-10 mpg, should I expect better then that?, any thing I can do to increase? thanks Pete wi.
flat road? hills? starting and stopping? That's a lot of weight. I haven't pulled that much with mine but from experience with an older 12valve motor, 9-10 isnt out of the ordinary for that weight if you had any hills, especially pushing 70mph.
I got 14.5 pulling my 7500# rv this weekend about 250 miles. Driving habits have a big affect. I have the 373 gears, auto, no mods other than a slight lift, which is more like a level and 285 tires, strait pipe.
