Fuel Computer

Ok does anyone know if there is a way to calibrate your overhead fuel computer. Just tired of it being about 10mpg off all the time.
Thanks
Mark

I don't see any mention of recalibrating the computer in the owners manual. Try asking the dealer, but I really doubt there is a way. I have yet to hear anyone claim their overhead fuel mileage computer is close to being consistently accurate.

Any time you add a power chip/programmer etc. the overhead computer will be off even more then when your truck was stock.

Yes I know but this is my 2006 and the engine is bone yard stock and the fuel cpu has never been right nor has the fuel cpu in my 2005 before or after I added the chip. I don't like programmers because when I run across a emissions check all I have to do is simply turn off the chip with a flick of the switch. Now if you had a program unloaded and ran across a check you’d just be had. They just Love giving out those fines when your trucks puffing black smoke. Thanks for the info tho. As for taking it back to a dealer well I've found that most (Not All but most.) dealer’s mechanics aren't the best guys to get to work on your Cummins Truck. My trucks only go back to one dealer here and only then when I have to get it flashed. Last time I still had to get a copy of the Service Memo. They had to update my ECM flash because the alternator quit charging. They told me I had a bad alternator and I said. No it isn't bad. I know this because, I just had to drive this thing 700 miles with a rigged wire and a light switch to get it to charge. (VERY IF'Y SO IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU’RE DOING THEN DONT TRY IT. IT WILL BURN OUT YOUR BATTERIES AND ALTERNATOR IF YOU DONT WATCH WHAT YOU’RE DOING.) So if anyone has bought a new alternator on your 06 or 07 you might have only needed them to read TSB 18-001-07. It worked on my 06 and a friend’s 3 06's. At present I'm starting to try to figure out a way to go around the stupid PCM controls over my turn, tail, stop and hazard lights on the truck and trailer circuits. As the $700+ to replace the PCM is just DUMB just to fix your lights. A fuse is SO MUCH CHEAPER.

The overhead in these trucks is just a waste of space and who knows why they can't get it right. The ones on Petes and Volvos I've driven have always been accurate.

I find it funny the state of Indiana gets upset over a littel black smoke. That's like one of the last states in the country where you can still smoke cigarettes inside resturaunts.
