front wheel making clicking sound

I had my tranny redone about two months ago and when I got it back there was this God aweful almost binding sound when I went to put it in four wheel drive and started to hit the throttle. So I took it out of 4 wheel drive and now I am noticing a clicking sound in the right front wheel area but it gets worse when I put it in 4 hi. Any one out there with any suggestions?

Front axle ujoint. Just had to replace mine. It will sound worse when in 4 wheel drive as there is more stress on the joint. Get it fixed. It is covered under the 7/70 drivetrain warranty with a $100 deductible. Just had mine done yesterday.

Good luck

I had similar symptoms in my truck and it wound up having a bent front axle housing. It made the front drive axles ride at angle to the center diff so it ruined the spider gears in the diffo. The dealer tried to replace the center diff and the spider gears, but it still had the same problem. They wound up replacing the whole front housing, gears, bearing, axles, ball joints, basically everything but the front hubs. They did a nice job because it drives better than ever and the noise is gone. Thank goodness it happend while the truck was still under warranty Good luck!

Thanks for all the info I talked to my buddy who is a dodge mechanic and he said it sounds like the u-joint and that it still should be under the factory warranty.

I had this same thing. Mine wasn't the U-joint at all. I figured it was. I took it in and it just so happened that the mechanic had just had one a couple days earlier with the same problem. It took him three days to figure it out on that truck. Turns out it was some clip on the brake assembly that wasn't installed all the way and was clicking on the rim as it rotated. This is what I was told anyway. It was fixed in 10 minutes and I know it takes longer than that to fix U-joints. If it's not the U-joint, have him look into what was wrong with mine.
