Re:Front Springs

Spring rates are NOT the same between diesels with and without snowplow prep. Snow plow prep springs were posted as 986AA Drivers Side and 985AA passenger side. Non snow plow prep springs (my truck) are 985AA Driver side and 984AA passenger side. These were both on a 2500HD.

Let the confusion continue! :

Re:Front Springs

Convert,
For what its worth, I have the same springs (985AA, 984AA) that you have. That surprises me a little because the only difference I see in our trucks is that mine has the 6-sp. I was under the impression that the 6-sp was heavier than the auto and therefore would have heavier springs. ???

The Boss Hog
(still lovin' Smoke ;D)

Re:Front Springs

I think it's only around 150 pounds of difference though Boss. Guess that just means that I can carry one more gal on the hood of my truck than you can! ;D

Re:Front Springs

So is a 986 spring stiffer then a 985 and that stiffer then a 984? Is the driver side have a heavier spring then the passenger side? Since a 985 is used on prep and non prep trucks?

Re:Front Springs

Maybe it has to do with the fuel tank or the direction of the crank shaft rotation.

jt

'cause you're more likely to burn up the clutch of you slip it, or break something with gears in it, snap a u joint, or something if you don't slip it. slush boxes are very good for plowing because they provide cusion for the gears if you hit something. without that, tremendous instantaneous forces can be transmitted through the drive train. just my opinion, but I'm betting DC doesn't want to take on the warranty liability of a 6-shooter that plows anything. The drive train is just not up to it.
